That by itself is a reason not to vote for him. No one knows how he looks at the Muslim faith. His father was Muslim and his mother did not reject it, or they would not had given him that name.
Who was he named after with a middle name “Hussein”
In this time in history we don’t need to take any chances.

If Barack's full name wasn't a serious issue to many, people like Ann Coulter wouldn't keep finding ways to quote it in full.
There is plenty to worry about Obama than to worry about his middle name or the weak argument that he might be Muslim.
The facts of his liberal policies, the things he has said on the record, his voting record, his lack of any real accomplishments, his very dubious alliances and associations are lenty of ammunition to not vote for the man. As Thomas Sowell said in his column these lines of attack on Obama undermine the truly legitimate questions (and believe me there are many, many questions) about Obama and his worthiness to be President.
I completely agree with this post, DB. That doesn't happen too often, but you're exactly right.
By taking on illegitimate arguments like "he's Muslim" and "his middle name is Hussein" it makes the Repubs seem small minded and out in right field compared to where the real issues are.
Your second paragraph is where this election would have to be won by McCain. Those are the issues that people actually care about and where Obama is very open to attack. To this point, the McCain team hasn't connected with voters on those issues.

Here's the question - would you name your kid Obama or Hussein or Barak?
What do I think of the name? It is UGLY!!!
Another question - why is everyone referring to Obama as black??? He is 1/2 white, 1/4 African, and 1/4 Arab.
I would think that's because its his salient feature (Sociology 101) - that's what stands out, and so people -by nature- tend to focus on that. Also, that seems to be the ethnic group with which he has iself identified with publicly the most. And the Arab thing has not escaped attention either - hence the nature of this thread.

Re: Does anyone have a problem with Obama's name?
Unless God intervenes there is a good chance that we will have a president with a strange sounding name but the name is the least of our worries. At this point I'd almost welcome Bill Clinton back, at least he was likable. He also was familiar with our gospel.
We just closed a revival last night and even though the evangelist didn't mention politics or names he said that the spirit of the antichrist is alive but God can turn everything around. His series was taken from the book of Esther. God is able to defeat the enemy. I still feel that God allowed Governor Palin to come on the scene for a reason. Wish some of her enthusiasm would rub off on Senator McCain.
I've never been called so many names as I have here on AFF and I may have asked for it at times. Now is not the time for Apostolic's to squabble but to unite in prayer that God will step in and turn things around for our country.

Where did you get your information that he was "1/4 Arab"? I know Ken Lamb and Rush Limbaugh have been claiming that but it's been without verification from everything I've read. That's certainly nothing new from Limbaugh.

George, I am a little dissapointed. It is statements like this that makes many in the world look at the US as ethnocentric jerks. To call a foreign language name ugly is immature in my opinion. I'm sure that you wouldn't name your kid that since it is not connected to your ethnic history. Do you not think that there are fellow Apostolic believers who have this name? Do you not realize that you will most certainly be sharing heaven with people with Semitic, African, and Arabic names...Heaven was not just made for the Georges of the world whether we realize it or not.
And take one look at his father's picture...that is about as all Black as one gets. Now certainly he is 1/2 white and 1/2 black...and I for one would like his whiteness to be discussed as well. However, Black is a color and in the history of our society, people who look like him have been called Black and treated as Black for generations
