And maybe if more things like this were aired on TV, those against TV may have to rethink calling it the devil's box.
I have no problem with unsolicited airing of things. The problems lies with the statement that is posted that seems to indicate his approval of tv.
Having heard him many times through the years and thoroughly enjoying his ministry, I would have a difficult time with a change in his stance against tv since he has been fairly vocal about it.
The same as the other formerly esteemed elder. His vocal opposition was clear, at least at the given time. Now, those waters are very muddied indeed, as well as his reputation in the eyes of many conservatives.
I have personally heard LS many times state his opposition to tv and that he has not owned one since coming into truth. For this to change, it would be extremely dissappointing to me since he is a fine man and had always been a great speaker/teacher.

Regarding your second statement, for it to no longer be considered "the devil's box" (your statement, not mine), it would have to be 100% apostolic. I seriously doubt that would ever happen, at least in this millenium.

I actually saw him preach in person once at BOTT. All of the other sermons have been webcasts.

You are right...he does not own a tv, nor does he watch it. (That is, unless he's at LaGirl's house! LOL) However, he does not criticize those who do.

You are correct that he didn't air it personally, but if his statement is in context and is in fact true, then it would lend credence to the assumption that he is pro-tv at which point I would no longer listen to his preaching.
This stands true for other elders who have changed their stances on holiness issues. I will not allow their preaching in my home.
Some questions for you sir, if you don't mind...

1...Is LS any less a man of God now that/if he is approving of tv?

2...Are his messages any less anointed if he believes now tv is not a sin?

3...Is TV a holiness issue to you? Are we to assume you believe if a person has a tv they are not holy?

1...What is wrong with a man changing his mind on something that's a non-salvational issue? Or is it that you think tv IS a salvational issue?

2...If tv is the devils box, can it not be said just as passionately that a computer is also the devil's box? There's all kinds of filth that's easier to access via your computer, and harder to filter out, than via a tv set.

Preferences change, but convictions remain.
My opinions on LS will remain mine since it would appear that some want to argue the issue.
Yes, tv is a holiness issue to me. I don't own one for the reason that it is not possible to control something that has only an output. TV is merely a receiver of whatever filth is coming down the pike. This includes commercials which are becoming more raunchy with time.
I was recently on a hospital trip with an inmate. I have to sit in the room at all times. The tv was on and it was kinda hard to miss the flesh exposed in a bra commercial. I could have spent my day without seeing that.
I was somewhat shocked since I don't watch the thing. It had been some time since the last time for me to see anything on it.
I find it difficult to believe that anyone can find that it isn't a holiness issue since we are to set no wicked thing before our eyes. To sit in front of tv is to do the opposite of what this scripture proclaims which does indeed involve holiness.
If someone has one are they unholy or less holy than another? Paul said to lay aside every weight. TV may not be inherently sinful, but it most definitely is a weight. If you are constantly exposing yourself to its carnal pleasures, it is going to weigh you down. There truly is no way to keep that from happening.
The Bible says that Lot vexed his soul. This happened because he pitched his tent towards Sodom. He had already parked himself where he could see the goings on. Eventually, he moved right in.
When God sent angels to spare his life, he became as a mocker. The angels literally had to drag him out along with his backslidden wife who dies and his wicked daughters who later slept with their own father. Wonder where they learned that?
I have a wonderful friend who brought the kids to church every sunday, wednsday, and all. The oldest child later was found to have slept around much and became a follower of a perverted rock star.
The parent told the child "We didn't teach you this". But, the child learned it all on that wonderful invention called "tv".
The fruit of tv is carnality. Many children today are backsliding as a direct result IMO of being exposed to so much "alternative" lifestyle options.
Eventually, a child will choose from the input given.
Train up a child...
