Why do I believe in the Bible. A very thought provoking question.
When I was young, (around age 3) my dad came into the Church (mom followed within a couple of years). And so for the majority of my life I was taught from the Word of God and my God fearing Mom and Dad made it the center of our home. I thank the Lord every day for this blessing. My faith in the Word of God was handed down from my parents.. somewhat like Timothy.
2 Timothy 1:5 "When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. "
This being instilled in me from an early age, I was completely open and willing for God to work in my life. At age 11 I saw my need to repent of my sins and be baptised in Jesus name. And so when I came up out of the water I started praising God and immediately began to speak in another tongue.
When you have these experiences from an early age, with Godly parents such as mine, it's easy to fall in love with the Word of God.
As I got older, I studied it more, and often times the Lord spoke specifically to me through his written Word. I've also had the privilege of having teachers in Bible College who went over prophecy after prophecy that has been fulfilled... and in my years I've learned where the Bible (the books) originated, how it was written and passed down through the ages.
I can't count the amount of times God's Word has peirced my soul... come alive before my eyes.
I feel extremely blessed to have been given the Christian parents I have... without my solid foundation who knows where my life would have taken me.
The Bible stands on it's own.
Hammer away ye hostile hands. Your hammers break, God's anvil stands.
How about you? Why do you believe it?
