One of my least favorites is "I Would Not Be Denied." It just doesn't sound right to me.

Least favorite? Anything sung off the wall. I hate singing off the wall.

from what I understand, that song is based on Genesis 32:24-32.
Here Jacob wrestled with the Angel/Messenger of YHWH (Christ in His pre-incarnate form). Looking back on this experience, Jacob identified this being with the Angel and Elohim which shepherded me (Genesis 48:15-16).
Hundreds of years later the prophet Hosea referred to this pre-incarnate manifestation of Christ by the terms "elohim", "the Angel" and "YHWH of hosts"

Love just about everything...from country/southern gospel to black gospel...seriously...including the new praise and worship.

If you knew me, you would know music is my life, so I love just about everything....EXCEPT opera...gross...period...

And I agree AQP about "When I Think About the Lord"...I did hear this song at Eddie and Sherri's church in January and they played fast...it was definitely different, but very neat...

As for not liking repetitive music Miss B....how do you handle black gospel girl???
I dislike opera just as you do worship pastor, one day in prayer i was much younger then , God needed my atention and I got the scolding of my life thru a song from GOD it was in opera form and he gave it in two different tongues, and also in spanish and english , i never say i liked it but now i know i can sing it. hehehe only in the spirit . God has a sense of humour God is good .

Gotcha. Then I'm pretty similar to you. I like it all. Gaithers & Isaacs, Old School Petra, PCD, Fred Hammond, John P Kee (see above), Israel, Phil Whickham, etc... then strictly mainstream music artists is another ball of wax for me. Love it all.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is toooo cute lol alright.

Re: Favorite/Least Favorite Songs to Sing in Churc

Favorite: Chris Tomlin's version of Amazing Grace. I know, it's a hymn and it's modern P&W, but it's my fav right now. Favs in this category last at least 2-3 hours.

Least favorite; Some of the ones I grew up on that made no sense.
"If I could hear my mother pray again" (My mom is still alive and prays like God is deaf. Thankfully for me most of the time)
"I'll be somewhere list'ning"
"Suppertime"
"Will there be any stars in my crown"
"No not one"
"That will be glory for me"
(Those last three were from another story I had heard.)

Did anyone else "re-lyric" those old songs? Here's my favorite from our pastor's daughter:
"I am a termite I've made up my mind, I'll eat a board".
