I never had thoughts that you would, but it doesn't hurt to try. As you said that you had friends in the Apostolic Church whom you loved, I thought perchance I might be one of them, and that alone would compel you to show respect.
I see I was mistaken on all counts, so continue on...

Re: Changing Denominations
There is an element of both UPC / non UPC & conservative / lib Pentecostal charismatic pastors / churches who prescribe to a church view that elevates the pastor to the level you describe.
There is a large former UPC church that I visited once as part of a tech crew for a dramatic presentation our church had come to present for them. I was kicked off the pew I was positoined in to signal the performers because it was THE pew that the many young ministers sat on in that church. Even after we explained why I needed to be there they insisted we had to move. It was the rudest stupidest thing I had ever had happen to me when visiting a church. Then later I found out that the Pastor / ministers were like rock stars there. The saints were taught they should wash the pastors car, mow his lawn, do everything under the sun for him. It really was a form of pastor worship. These young ministers were following right in his footsteps.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Sis. Alvear,
This is true, but I believe the true churches with Godly Pastors are fewer and fewer than in the past. I think it is a sign of the times. What amazes me is those who feel they have been freed from 'legalism' are worse than any they have left or refer to in their sermons.
I think labeling these abusive Pastors as "goof-balls" is an understatement as they affect many lives and according to scripture they do have to give account for all the lives they affect positively and negatively.
Respectfully, Rhoni

Re: Changing Denominations
Rhoni, I am fairly new to this forum and sometimes think I am not sophisticated enough for it. That aside, please permit me to add my simple contribution to your thread. Due to my father's job years ago, we moved to a district where the ministry, for the most part became very corrupt and lacking in true leadership. Our family was destroyed by ungodly counsel, malicious false accusations and politics. We didn't break the law, rebel against the pastor or split the church. We were very involved locally and in the district. We had life situations that many families have but our mistake was the people we associated with. Long story short, we suffered years of tremendous pain. But God looks on the heart. My advice is to cut away the bitterness and focus on your Saviour, never stray from the Biblical truth that has been revealed to you and guard your heart. Daily prayer and submission and a sincere heart without offense will carry you through. God led my husband and I to the church we have been in for 20 years and our pastor is the epitome of love, grace and mercy, a true shepherd. May God keep you and your faith fail you not.

Sister, it appears you have personal interest in following Rhoni's posts.

Barb,
Your definition of 'showing respect' would be to alter the way I am and I can't do this. Do I love you? Yes. Do I respect you? Yes.
I am tired of apologizing for who I am and the way I react to things. God made me this way and if he truly makes no mistakes then I have a purpose to accomplish.
My purpose may just to make people think about who and what they follow. I cannot be who you think I should be. I DO NOT APO0LOGIZE FOR WHO I AM.
Respectfully,
Rhoni

SIS,
Absolutely! The difference in what you and I think is that I think it unnecessary to stay and suffer. I do agree that you should keep your mouth shut and not take anyone with you. You have to do what is best for yourself and cannot make the same determination for others.
Blessings, Rhoni

Dimples,
I am not the only one who talks about cultish practices but because of the number of my posts and the directness of my posts - I am singled out more. There are many people who love me who lurk, and many people that want or predict my downfall who do the same.
I post under my name and do not hide from issues, mine or others, unlike some who post under psuedo-names and say things they wouldn't say if everyone knew who they were.
Blessings, Rhoni

LOL!! First, Rhonda and I have been friends for a few years now. We have met face to face, broken bread, know each other's families, had many phone conversations, exchanged gifts...get the picture?!
So if I read or comment on her posts, so what?! She has read mine and commented on them in the past...no biggie...
That's the "personal interest." No hidden agenda.
As for the statements Rhoni has made being made by others...I don't read this board 24/7, so the posts of others have passed me by.
Sorry if that offends you, and I promise to call out the next one I read...hope this response is sufficient...
