Because God couldn't reveal to Paul what to pray for so he had to take Luke along so Luke could run some tests and let Paul know what the problem was.

What do you think medicines of today do? The alter the mind and gives you hallucinations. Medicines are something that are used to keep people in bondage by taking medications the rest of their lives. It could also be viewed as idolatry.
