It was a GREAT work!! He biblically destroyed the idea that we can do anything to chase God down, impress Him, or get his attention. He exposed the system of works that God Chasers propagates. I have it somewhere. I should find it and post it. However, it's kind of old new now....the Chaser thing, I mean. Thank God.

putting it mildly. And he was writing in opposition to a family he'd been close to for most of his life. Guts.

I've got a reel to reel recorder and cassette recorder/player. Can transfer to computer then to CD or DVD. Let me if I can be of help.

Do you think he would want the sermon posted?

In short, was his critique praiseworthy or critical of God Chasers?

What were his critiques?
It's been YEARS since I read the book, but I recall it having such a positive profound impact on my life, and inspiring a desire to pursue God deeper.

Hmmmm, I get it. I can see where he's coming from too. I'm not sure Tenney's intentions were to instill a "prove that your worthy" tone though. I also tend to believe, like any good love story, it only works when both parties are deeply in love and chasing each other. Good for us, God's love is unconditional and much more faithful than our own.

He focused heavily on grace and presented the idea that if anyone is doing any chasing, God is chasing us with his love and grace. He obviously says it much better than my two sentence summary.

I get that. But the inspiration there to intimately pursue God as one of His Beloved was what that book influenced. I think a group with an existing theology of works would have read it the wrong way. I have to say the book was a blessing to me early on in my journey. I saw for a moment so much more in God. Following him. Panting hard after him. Seeking him. Asking him. Knocking on his door. The book turned the emotions I had about Jesus into a more personal one.
