Re: Changing Denominations
Speaking of which...there is a church that is being destroyed, and another church being built up by the church being destroyed - here in the area. When Pastors consider a church "their church" then they react to situations using pride and not grace according to Galatians.
I was talking with a friend about the state of the churches, not just here inTexas, but all across the United States. All I can say is, "Lord Jesus please come". The saints are being worn out with all the 'junk'
One preacher friend told me the church being destroyed deserved it as they had not dress standards and they were not scriptually 'separate' from the world. He said this while justifying his own 'plight'. The reason the law had to be fulfilled in Christ is because you had to obey the whole law to be 'saved' and there is no one that can abide by the whole law.
The Bible states, "Every man is right in his own eyes". I would rather we each see each other through God's eyes! Mercy and compassion is what we all need and none of us are good enough to merit it. Thank God for Jesus.
Blessings, Rhoni

Re: Changing Denominations
Please pray for all the families that are being hurt by all that is happening. A Pastor's true colors come out when tried by fire. Many times you can do the absolute right thing but in the wrong way, with the wrong spirit.

Re: Changing Denominations
Wow! How did I miss this? This thread was started way back in Jan and somehow I missed it. Something as big as Rhoni stating she is no longer Apostolic / Pentecostal.
Now I only have to find time to read all bazillion pages to find out "the rest of the story" as the late Paul Harvey would say.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

You know - it is my observation and experience: You can take the individual/church out of UPCI, but you cannot take the legalism out of them. Same people/church different organization - same authoritarian, judgemental, patriarchal, and rigid paradigm thinking/behaviors.

If the admin would like me to disappear for not claiming to be Apostolic in denomination then I will. Although we have many people on here that don't calim to be "Apostolic" or go to those type of churches themselves any longer.

Well, Rhonda, here you go again..."cutltish practices." When will you EVER stop?! Don't you care that such phrases offend countless people who are doing all they can, and who are living according to their convictions?!
You have no problem with calling others out, and making rash and unfair statements, but what if the situation were reversed?! You wouldn't like it at all.
Because you have DEEP issues with the Apostolic Church, it does not give you the right to call it "cultish practices."
If it is true that you have dear friends who are Apostolic, why would you continue to low-grade at every turn what they believe?!
It boggles my mind...
As for the politics and junk, so you're tired. Who isn't?! I see it first hand every day. My heart is distressed as I write because of the behind the scenes comments and junk leveled at brethren.
But I refuse to make it a topic for the World Wide Web to see. Further, for all of the mishandling and junk that goes on, there are more things right about being Apostolic than not.
Truth is, there are problems any where you go. There is no perfect situation, and every home, church, organization, place of employment, you name it, has some kind of an issue.
The reason is that we are dealing with humanity, and as long as we have that factor involved, we can look for imperfection.
I'm asking you kindly to cease from referring to the Apostolic Church as a cult...thank you...

Re: Changing Denominations
I want to be a Christian through it all...
Some Apostolic people have tried to kill me but that does not make all apostolic people a cult...WE CANNOT group everyone in a lump sum...
People are people we will always have the good and the bad...I am thankful for a little Apostolic Pentecostal church for it was at that alter when I was a little girl I found my lovely Lord.

Re: Changing Denominations
All churches have issues...there are goofballs in every organization...however we cannot say everyone is a goofball because of a few demanding abusive pastors...ther are many kind, Jesus like men out there that do all they know to save souls.

Sis Barb,
You and I both know that no one on this forum has a problem calling me out about anything. I am sorry if my words offend you but according to the definition of cult -many of the behaviors fit into the category.
As this offends you then please feel free to not read my posts as this is a public forum and I have no intention of changing the way I post or communicate my ideas.
Blessings, Rhoni
