Re: Gay Marriage: For or Against?

Also, who is the state government to impose on when is consenting age for marriage or sex. Should that be left to families/individual?

Are ok with states allowing gay marriage, but tell a person when they can legally have sex or get married??

Seriously, who is the government to impose on consenting adults regarding polygamy??

So you don't want government to ban gay marriage, for some stupid reason , but ban consenting adults from polygamy?? What happened to your position about government not infringing upon individuals???

.
I think you need to re-read what I wrote.

You have convinced me you want the gubment to force the gay marriage agenda. Against the voters wishes. I bet you are very angry when I see you contradict yourself in 3 ways.

Freedom of religion allows polygamy. It's in the Constitution.

What if what the voters desire is defined as being unconstitutional?

Let's put it this way...

I don't trust the GOVERNMENT to be a NANNY that allows or doesn't allow private arrangements and agreements. Government got into the marriage business by requiring "Marriage Licenses" in order to 1.) Prevent interracial marriages. And 2.) To make money by "taxing marriage" with a filing fee. Since then, the institutional of marriage has cracked, fissured, and begun falling apart. When marriage was left in the hands of private individuals... marriage abounded.

In the name of freedom and liberty, if a quack and three silly women want to call themselves "married", that's their business. Odds are, if they're into that kind of thing, they'll live together anyway. At least they would be held to legal obligations to one another. But here's my angle... I have faith in people arranging their private lives. Let's say the GOVERNMENT began to recognize polygamous marriages today. In today's world, with educated and free women... how many women do you think would enter such an arrangement? Women aren't stupid. Most women would laugh at the notion and tell their husbands, "Over my dead body." Liberty itself would prevail and marginalize any polygamous unions.

Re: Gay Marriage: For or Against?

If the GOVERNMENT got out of people's private lives, much of this "social tension" and "culture war" would be resolved in the name of Liberty. We'd be one nation that is established on the principles of liberty and justice for ALL. The problem is... extremists on BOTH sides want liberty and justice for all EXCEPT those they disagree with.

Re: Gay Marriage: For or Against?

Here's something to consider....

Will gay people ever just give up the fight for marriage and say, "Oh well. I guess we lost. Time to go home."??? Not on your life. They are fighting for a freedom to do something in a free country. They will fight until they win. We CAN'T win this one politically.

We CAN allow them the freedoms they desire as long as those freedoms do not endanger the life, liberty, and property of another. I'm sure that after ten years of gay marriage being legal the gay community will not see it as the prize to fight for as they do now. It will be old news, most gays will not be marrying because "gay divorce" will prove to brutal for their lifestyle. Again, LIBERTY itself would mitigate the problem.

But, how will God see it?
How will God view a society that puts their seal of approval on a behavior He calls an abomination?

If liberty mitigates problems, then where does Jesus fit into being the One who helps us in all our problems?

And where would you draw the line in allowing un-natural behaviors?

I do not understand the mentality that says, here...have it your way, now hurry up and figure out this is really bad for you...I don't get it.
