I just found it an interesting topic. I'd never really thought of the fact that the denigration of women throughout the ages could have come from the fact that it was satan's intentions and plan all along.
It was and still is honey...he's after the life force. Destroy the seed, you destroy the harvest.

It used to be called moon worship or goddess worship. Ashtaroth was an example of it for you Bible scholars.

This stuff about how embattled women are above and beyond all other targets of Satan, and this huge emphasis on the feminine is just the latest manifestation of that influence showing up in the thinking of some religious people.

This is nothing new.It is an old, old spirit that shows up every so many generations with a new dress and a facelift.

"The life force..."

You are using some pretty loaded language.

Sounds eerily familiar.

So when you title the thread like you did, what were we supposed to assume?

Not some local assembly, but the Apostolic church.

This is an Apostolic forum.

Read the rules. That is the assumed paradigm of posters here.

Had you titled it, "the Persecution of Women through the Ages Around the World by Various Entities Including Some Religions," it would have been another matter.
ROTFL...to long of a title, who would have responded to that? There is a certain level of marketing involved you know...

Folks, I am convinced we are dealing with some New Age Goddess Worship/Sacred Feminine influenced thinking here.

I haven't watched any episodes of Star Wars.

That's not the "force" I'm thinking of.

Nice attempted deflection though. Very smooth. A lot more people would be familiar with the Star Wars reference than with some of the philosophers and other sources for this particular line of thinking you are wrapping in Scriptural terminology and "marketing."

My sisters did make me wash dishes when I was growning up. Does that count?

Refresh my memory.

If it was Scripture, it was God's design.

If not, it was man's.

So what is the point either way?
It was just a question...I was just curious. I guess I'll have to go study up on it to be able to answer YOUR questions.

Seems like the examples in scripture throughout the OT show that women weren't exactly treated as they are nowadays. i.e. polygamus marriages, no inheritance, arranged marriages, separation in the tabernacle. Were those things instructed by God? Or just a part of the culture of man?

How about the Biblical definition?

G1377
διώκω
diōkō
dee-o'-ko
A prolonged (and causative) form of a primary verb δίωdiō (to flee; compare the base of G1169 and G1249); to pursue (literally or figuratively); by implication to persecute: - ensue, follow (after), given to, (suffer) persecute (-ion), press toward.
