Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

Not to change the subject, but this is an interesting twist to me. Canam is brash at times, and obviously VERY opinionated and unafraid to voice it. For this he is often criticized, rebuked or simply mocked. I've even been party to it I'm sure.

What I find interesting, telling of this forums overall ideology perhaps, is that we see Canam being told he needs a better "filter" and that he should think before he types. Also an appeal that he makes good points at times, but it is overshadowed by his terrible candor. While I agree...here is the interesting part to me.

NOt too terrible long ago a certain EXTREMELY popular poster here did the same things and to my knowledge pretty much NEVER faced any of the backlash Canam gets. This poster personally insulted people CONSTANTLY, not insulting their ideas...insulting the PERSON. He had an insane ego and every word dripped with "im better than you". Whether he was this way in person is of no regard, he carried himself that way here. Constantly he mocked anyones beliefs that were not in line with his own. He went out of his way to badger certain other posters. Yet until this poster announced on the316 that he was infact no longer OP or otherwise alligned with Apolstolica any criticism towards him was so miniscule you couldn't find it with a microscope.

So it is interesting to me that here we see so many telling Canam he needs a better filter, etc etc while for years this other guy got away with character assassination, badgering and all around ungodly jerk behavior on the forum and nothing was ever publicly said about it. In fact, admins and well known forum folks STOOD UP for him.

So is the atmosphere around here simply getting more controlled where people will be better moderated and warned when they get out of hand? Or was it simply that Canam is pretty much an outcast of sorts around here and the other guy was Mr Popularity?

Hmmm...

This. Concerted effort by Admin on that point, I might add.

Not sure all your facts are straight. Said Mr Popularity poster was infracted, repeatedly banned and even quarantined... before exiting.

I don't think anyone is being singled out. I personally like Canam. I think he overstates things sometimes to get a response.

Individual posters are welcome to have opinions - whether they are Admins or not.

As always, if posts are reported, Admin will review and take appropriate action.

Thanks Nite, excellent points, Btw i will never get personal ,i may irritate and throw a few digs in (all in fun not revenge Bratty etc.even though i was called a fool for opening my mouth ) and i do like to debate, my family will tell you im the tormenter sometimes(ive got brothers that are way worse) and having worked heavy construction you learn to take it and dish it back, but i will always detest a double standard and i will point it out, if that ticks some off maybe they will change.

Yes, and it's also important to note that canam hasn't been disciplined in any way for any comments on this thread. (As far as I know).

Probably true on the overstating, im also not afraid to state something to some one irregardless of their color, if someone wants to think im a race baiter or racist so be it, im not pc at all couldnt care less, what i want is the truth printed and voiced, if they arrested Zim tommorow and have the facts to back it up then im good with it, prosecute him ! No ive never been spanked under this name i did once on another name and i probably deserved it ,even though others had said worse .

Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

I have no axe to grind with anyone on this thread or forum.
Canam and I are usually on the same side, insofar as issues go!
Although I wish he would post with punctuations and capitalization, because it kills me to read his posts

I do believe the admins here do a great job.
I used to post on the 316 quite a bit, but lost interest because no one ever called certain flame-thrower posters to task.

Respect and civility are big issues to me and to most others here, I believe.

While I was still here before my self imposed exile, this poster had gone on for many months with no banning or quarantine. However, I did, upon returning some time later, notice the quarantine and read that siad poster was at odds with some admins for reining him in.

So i do see that at some point someone decided enough was enough, but that was after how long? And after said poster had insulted and run off how many?

It is in the past now though.
