Understood. At the same time, that ties into my very point. Certainly there's going to be more tolerance on forums than in person. But unfortunately, there are folks who will knowingly take advantage of that. (And the more they see they that can get away with, the more they push the limits.)

On Sunday in church they act all holy and sanctified... but on the internet, under the cover of anonymity, they repeatedly show a nasty side to them that they'd never show in person.

Maybe they've forgotten what Matthew 12:36 says.

And as an aside one reason there is probably less of that on JP in anonymous posting is not allowed.

In OUR church. If someone becomes disagreeable they are gently, then if necesary more firmly delt with.

If someone comes in as a new comer, and they espouse some strange doctrine or spirit they will probably have one of our Elders talking with them.

It will more than likely be handled before the pasto has to deal with it.

How do you do it in your church EB ?

I don't necessarily wish bad toward anyone who comes around here, but there are definitely some whose attitudes and spirits are very poisonous. We wouldnt put up with such attidudes if we were sitting together in a church building, so why should we put up with such attitudes on a forum?

It is because this is a USER moderated forum. That is stated when someone joins and is on the welcome page. We believe in freedom and that posters will report posts that are over the line. We are not the thought police and we are not on line 24/7. There is no way that we could moderate every post neither do we have any desire to do so. Freedom ALWAYS makes people who like control uncomfortable.

We have a diverse Admin team who are able handle things in a reasonable manner. We don't always agree with everything but we always come to a consensus. And so far, no one has threatened to take their "toys" and go home!

And for someone not to be able to sign up on AFF, they have to either be a spammer or have MAJOR problems that we feel would not be good. FREEDOM is a good thing!
