Can Sufism Defuse Terrorism?

I can respect Sufism for the most part. In fact, if I were to ever convert to Islam (which I don't see at the moment), Sufism would be the only brand of Islam in which I could find inspiration.

My friend:
Sufism aside it is simply not possible for anyone, anytime to faithfully and genuinely pray daily and also hold unprovoked violence towards others inside.
There is no room for both. One cannot be Muslim and fail to do this basic thing.
I advise any, all of you, to test this. Stop, put everything down, and pray 5 times tomorrow. Or to be different pray 3 times. You will see. There is no, none, room for prayer and hatred or violence. Try it the next day. Make it a habit. This will lift you all.

Walks, what in your opinion is the reason for all of this violence in the name of Islam? And what do you believe a solution would be?

Why put Sufism aside? It is a mystic tradition dating back to Mohammad himself.

In reference to the article. Sufism will not make pacifists out of zealots.

The violence, as you earlier pointed out, is based on a political and not religious agenda.
Words calling for violence with a political goal do not fall under protected free speech in Muslim countries and as such the words are not tolerated nor is the presence of those who speak those words tolerated.
Here they are quickly tried and executed. Is that right? Our media back home is highly critical of this. Saudis feel that this is a deterrent and that this makes them feel safer.
Opening the door for this in the US opens the door for the right or left or anyone else whose opinions are in conflict with whoever is in charge at any moment to be branded as such. Though it works, it is in conflict with our fundamental values as Americans.
So which is better? Choose to uphold our values at any price or choose to reverse them in the interest of security? Many, including folks in my own family, over the years, have chosen the first.
My opinion:
I believe we should uphold our values and address these actions as individual crimes originating from individual people and apply our laws to them without prejudice. Our values, though they often come at a price, always win out.
With that said, once a crime has been committed and the person responsible has been tried and convicted, we are far too tolerant of violence and our punishment for crimes of violence is far too lenient. We do not have deterrents in place as I see in other places.

Saudi Arabia on Wednesday beheaded a convicted Pakistani drug trafficker and one of its own citizens who killed a soldier.
Their cases bring to nine the number of executions this year, according to an AFP tally.
Rakan bin Eid bin Bikheet al-Baqmi, a Saudi, was found guilty of chasing and firing on a security patrol, killing soldier Sultan bin Ibrahim bin Ghrahid al-Jaid, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.

Re: Islam: A Religion of Lies...
OH and about the issue of "Muslim no-go zones" in Europe - here is the list of official apologies from Fox News for lying to you about them.
I have clearly made a terrible error for which I am deeply sorry. My comments about Birmingham were totally in error. And I am issuing this apology and correction for having made this comment about the beautiful city of Birmingham. I do not intend to justify or mitigate my mistake by stating that I had relied on other sources because I should have been much more careful. There was no excuse for making this mistake and I owe an apology to every resident of Birmingham. I am not going to make any excuses. I made an inexcusable error.
This from Steve Emerson, the "terrorism expert"
“Over the course of this last week, we have made some regrettable errors on air regarding the Muslim population in Europe — particularly with regard to England and France,” Banderas said. “To be clear, there is no formal designation of these zones in either country ... and no credible information to support the assertion that there are specific areas in these countries that exclude individuals based solely on their religion.”
Julie Banderas, News Anchor
Be careful with your news. Check and cross-check before you regurgitate it online.
Be careful who you vote for.
Bobby Jindal: (voted for him myself) When pressed for evidence of the "no-go zones," the Republican governor and possible presidential candidate pointed to an article in The Daily Mail, saying he had heard from "folks here" that "there are neighborhoods where women don't feel comfortable going in without veils [and] where police are less likely to go."
"I've lived here a long time," CNN correspondent Max Foster replied. "I don't know of any no-go zones for non-Muslims."
Seek truth in the basis of what you post. Do not perpetuate lies while discussing "religion of lies". This makes you look weak, hypocritical, and silly.

CNN, too, trafficked in ‘no-go zone’ chatter
A search through Nexis archives finds that CNN traded in just the sort of “no-go zone” that popped up on Fox News in the days after the Jan. 7 massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine. Let’s start with the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 9, when anchor Wolf Blitzer was chatting with anchor Chris Cuomo:
But what about CNN? A question for the network on whether it should correct the instances above (and there may well be others) is pending.

Wake up to the problem : Separate and unequal in France
By David Ignatius
Published: April 27, 2002
It is as if the French imagine that race is a worry for other nations (the United States, in particular) but not for them. Yet Arab gangs regularly vandalize synagogues here, the North African suburbs have become no-go zones at night, and the French continue to shrug their shoulders.
