Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Or, is the authority of elders in the church restricted to teaching ONLY that which Jesus commanded the apostles to teach the church?

I submit that if an elder may bind the conscience of the church, or even a part of the church, in one manner (such as practices to be maintained) he may likewise bind the conscience of the church in another manner (such as doctrines to be believed).

In other words, if an elder has God ordained authority to require his brethren to shave, for example, he must of necessity also have the authority to teach as doctrine that which the Bible has not revealed.

"Teaching as doctrine the commandments of men", perhaps?

he was a pastor of the church! Speaking of bible illiteracy, the bible says the apostles ordain elders in every church. You know the same ones that were to be called for prayer if one was sick.

True, just WE are slow to believ WE can be guilty of the same. Perceived truth is not truth.
