and of course that happens at repentance ... and not because the baptizer ... invoked the name ... unless you believe calling on the name as preached by the Apostles is for the converted to pronounce over the unconverted......

Agreed. (Maybe not the best analogy, but I agree with the using of a parallelism.)

Warrior ... it's always interesting to hear PAJCers who say they believe in justification through faith .... but will ... then turn around and say that salvation hangs on the baptizer .....

Acts 2:38

"Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Beautiful, thank you Jesus for your truth.

1 John 5

1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

Thank you Jesus for your truth.

We do understand the power and authority attached to a name and a command. Some were baptized, if you will, unto John. Some unto Christ.

Regardless of how one feels about whether it is the baptizer or the baptizee, we do have the example of the apostles that it was the name of the Lord that was called upon, or, in other words, the authority of Jesus Christ was invoked at baptism.
