Hmmmm. I can tell by reading Thad's posts that this is something he's serious about. It would be nice if someone had a simple answer to soothe people's fears, but I too feel that this country's focus has shifted too far away from anything resembling a God fearing nation. 9/11 seemed to turn the tide for a time, but we seem to have the attention span of a kindergartner in this country.

I realized then that we are so full of things that there is no room for Him to move.
We are so full of our own desires that the desire for Him has waned.
We are so full of the blessings that we feel rich and have need of nothing when in reality we are poor, blind, wretched, and naked.
I now pray that God will empty us out so that He can fill us with what we truly need and not just what our selfish flesh wants.
Until we are empty, there is no room for God to fill us with the bounty of revival.

This is a very spiritually astute post. Good. So much truth here.
In 1990, if I recall correctly, we were on vacation to the big apple. On the bow of the ferry coming back from Liberty Island, I gazed upon the looming twin towers of the WTC, directly ahead of me. Suddenly the Spirit of the Lord came upon me and I heard his voice say, "these buildings will tumble to the ground and will be no more." I turned to the wife standing behind me and told her and some of the children with me what the Spirit had just spoken to me. I wept almost uncontroably while standing on the furthers point of the bow. Actually, in my mind, I thought that the Lord was speaking of all those great buildings in New York. It was not until 9/11/01 did I understand.
"The wicked shall be turned into hell and all nations that forget God." It is a promise. Another promise is that not a hair of our heads shall perish. It should be a time of great rejoicing for the salvation of our God has come.

have you cataloged such things on the internet and are there still yet unfulfilled prophecies left?
I feel the letter to the Laodecians is appropriate to both the American churches (mainstream) and America
Rev 3:14 And to the angel of the church of the Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Head of the creation of God, says these things:
Rev 3:15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I would that you were cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because you say, I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
Rev 3:18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold purified by fire, so that you may be rich; and white clothing, so that you may be clothed, and so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear. And anoint your eyes with eye salve, so that you may see.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; therefore be zealous and repent.

No, Rico it is all about holiness without which you will not see God. That my friend is Bible.
Whether you believe it or not is entirely up to you.

I can certainly agree with this.
When 9/11 hit. it was like America remembered that church existed.
A short time later, it no longer mattered. Bro Brian Kinsey told me that America had again fallen asleep. 9/11 only served to shake them and arouse them for a time, but their slumber returned.

Anytime something bad happens people start referring to preachers warning of bad things.
Since a lot of preachers preach that any given Sunday when bad things do happen someone can claim divine pre knowledge.
Kind of like the folks who think Hurricanes are judgement from God.
The VA Tech shooting are America's biggest mass murder in the form of shooting but not too far behind the nut in the 1990's who drove his pickup in to a Luby's in Killeen Texas then proceeded to shoot about 25 people to death.
That incident was the impeteus for many Southern states enacting "carry" laws. If some sane person in that restaurant had been carrying a licensed revolver he or she was trained to use they might could have killed the guy before he killed 25 people. Same thing in the VA tech incident. It is a shame most college professors are liberals. If they all were trained with pistols and had them they could have stopped this guy early on.

This thread is not about something bad happening and then saying "it was God"...nobody said anything here that the VA Tech shooting was the judgement of God and this thread actually started before it

When I hear this junk being spewed to Young people it really gets under my skin! Young people are impressionable and their futures are already uncertain enough with out people, preachers constantly telling them they have nothing to live for (in essence) so they should get to the altar NOW!

when this person hears from the Lord I sit up and listen. He really hears from God and our pastor trust him too. He is not fluff, just a plain guy a straight shooter. He;'s told me things and it was always on
anyhow, he said he say a time coming soon when no one will be flying anywhere, no one will be taking holidays, all the planes will be empty, the vacation resorts will be empty, it will be a time of great terror.
I am sitting here trying to remember all that he said . I'll post more as it comes but it really has shaken me up. somehow I felt a witness in my spirit that this was true.
I was in San francisco Yesterday and i kept saying and thinking " Lord how long are you going to let all this sin go on and let our nation get by with this" and then here we are with today's bible study. I guess that was my answer.
the nation and church will be Judged according to this minister for the sins of our nation
any thoughts ? is this too negative to talk about ?

Our pastor was riding down the road a few weeks ago, coming home from Memphis near the airport and was thanking God for America and the privledge we have to be here. He said God spoke to him as plain as day and said, "It is time to weep for America." He preached about it and a powerful travail came over the church.
