No but it ... makes the point that the costs of conferences are out of control ... and now attendees are footing the bill.

and to imply or suggest that funds were somehow "misappropriated" or not used in the best possible way -NOW and after the fact is asinine.

You ask 10 people how to do something and you get 10 different answers. You just have to trust the one person making the decisions is making the best one...and not imply, somehow after the fact that is was done deliberate and there as some kind of shady dealings..

However, I would like to know if there were other things considered before just deciding to charge a fee..

Sure, any person with one eye and half sense can see that expenses can be cut and money saved when planning GC....and I wonder if that has been done and they still feel the need to charge admission. Perhaps they shouldnt have such a LARGE, expensive conference if attendance doesnt support it...kwim?
