Help me out on this - vanity is the main ingredient in coveting. I'm not sure I follow.
Vanity means emptiness, coveting is a longing to fill or gain.
Coveting is wanting what some else has because I don't have it and I think I deserve it. Filling ones life with the things of this world is vanity because it will all pass away, filling oneself with the things of His Kingdom in humble submission, is true wisdom, because of His Kingdom there shall be no end.
Does this make sense?

The prostitutes in the saloons of the 1880's dressed more modestly than the UPC women of today's world. Those harlots would consider the most modestly dressed UPC woman today to be immodest.
