Re: Which OT laws apply to us today?

No one mentioned the very first "LAW" with a curse.

Re: Which OT laws apply to us today?

Paul mentioned a Law with a PROMISE...
Ephesians
6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....

Re: Which OT laws apply to us today?

Nope, the #1 thing that we bear as fruit of the Spirit mentioned is love...

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.....

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Just remember, bear the fruit, championed by love, be led of the Spirit and you will never be under the Law!!!

"Love covers a multitude of sins." So sins are covered until they are remitted: but in a unrepentant heart...?

Re: Which OT laws apply to us today?

Law is mentioned in two ways in the New Testament. It is synonymous with the Old Testament/Covenant as well as a statement of what is eternally right and wrong. It is from these two contexts that we get the idea no one is under law anymore, from the covenantal standpoint. And from the eternal right and wrong, law always exists.

When we confuse the two, various errors arise.

Some of us view the law as composed of two parts (The Law of God which are the Ten Commandments and the Law of Moses composed of the rest)
Of course we have plenty of arguments and proof texts for this doctrine.

in our point of view the Law of Moses with all its commandments were done away with the cross.

However the law of God (The Ten Commandments) was reaffirmed by Jesus by his words in the Sermon on the Mount and by the words throughout the New Testament.
