Check out the old testament use of the word "watcher"........but regardless of who shows up and how:
Gal 1:6 - Gal 1:9 (KJV)
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

I'm just curious. People have "expanded" the Bible to encompass a lot of new discoveries. More correctly, I suppose, I should say that they have "expanded" their interpretations of the Bible to try and fit new discoveries- and sadly new ideas that proved to be wrong.
But why is a belief in "things biblical" preferable to, say things from the X-Files? Why discount this "notion" out of hand just because it doesn't fit the "traditional" viewpoints?

Typically the people all wrapped up in UFOlogy aren't church people. I hope! <gulp> They are usually unchurched secular people.
They become distracted by this obsession, and therefore less likely to become introspective enough to seek God. In addition, it colors the way they view key abstractions so they could become confused by the spiritual aspects of Apostolic life.

My son was asking me how we could be deceived by Satan if he did signs and wonders. I told him only people that watch Sci-Fi would be tricked.
Low and behold, someone loaned us the Left Behind series, which I wouldn't put in my collection, but I digress - anyway, the main character on the show made the same comment as I did.

Thanks Op Carl. I was looking for a pithy way to express that- and my thoughts are anything but pithy lately!
What prompted me was exactly what you <gulp> over. And it's a strange experience - one worthy of eerie Sci-Fi music... Back in the 1990's we had a whole camp meeting devoted to the teachings of Chuck Missler, Zecharia Stichin and Richard Hoagland. It wasn't intentional and it was kind of my fault.
When throwing names around about speakers I mentioned one who had done a tremendous job many years earlier on breaking down the 70 Weeks of Daniel and related themes. I was asked if I had heard his preaching recently and I confessed that I hadn't; but the man was invited and we all learned about the angel/demon/space-alien wars, the Niburu and planets colliding like pinball resulting in the Face on Mars and other keen stuff.
I was definitely surprised and I have wondered just how prevalent that teaching was within the Apostolic movement and if it had taken root in other places.

Ah but the people are just fascinated when they are learning these key Christian life-skills! This teaching is just so helpful in our efforts to win the lost!
EVERY grocery store has an aisle where they keep the Froot Loops!

Do people have imaginations because they watch sci-fi? Or do they watch sci-fi because they have imaginations?
The concept of "If it ain't in the bible then we don't need to know it. Yup yup yup." is very wrong. People (most but not all) have a natural need to explore. Astronomy is perhaps the ultimate area -or "final frontier".
Oh yes, since the Face on Mars was brought up..... Here are two pictures of it. The first is the classic pic taken by the Viking mission and the other is much more recent and much higher resolution.

Very awesome. I have this!
Synopsis
For centuries scientists and philosophers have marveled at an eerie coincidence. Mathematics, a creation of human reason, can predict the nature of the universe, a fact physicist Eugene Wigner referred to as the "unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics in the physical sciences." In the last three decades astronomers and cosmologists have noticed another, seemingly unrelated, mystery. Contrary to all expectations, the laws of physics seem precisely "fine-tuned" for the existence of complex life.
Could these two wonders actually be isolated pieces of a wider pattern? Both are prerequisites for science, yet what about the process of scientific discovery itself? What are its necessary conditions? Why is it even possible? Read any book on the history of science, and you'll learn about magnificent tales of human ingenuity, persistence, and dumb luck. But that's only part of the story, and not even the most important part. Our location is much more critical to science than it is to real estate. For some reason our Earthly location is extraordinarily well suited to allow us to peer into the heavens and discover its secrets.
Elsewhere, you might learn that Earth and its local environment provide a delicate, and probably exceedingly rare, cradle for complex life. But there's another, even more startling, fact, described in The Privileged Planet: those same rare conditions that produce a habitable planet-that allow for the existence of complex observers like ourselves-also provide the best overall place for observing. What does this mean? At the least, it turns our view of the universe inside out. The universe is not "pointless" (Steven Weinberg), Earth merely "a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark," (Carl Sagan) and human existence "just a more-or-less farcical outcome of a chain of accidents" (Steven Weinberg). On the contrary, the evidence we can uncover from our Earthly home points to a universe that is designed for life, and designed for discovery.

It don't matter two hoots if Bigfoot shows up riding Nessie, with two grey aliens strapped to It's/His/Her back, being lead by the lord Mitria, with Jimmy Hoffa and Amelia Earhart in the entourage; it does not and can not negate the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If it attempts to , it's anti-Christ.
