Yeah, they need to do a shunning.

To be consistent, yes. Church is a carpool, not a taxi service. The members have obligations to one another. So if the whole church has decided he deserves whatever happens, well...

Jesus didn't even dis-fellowship Judas. I have never seen anyone dis-fellowshipped or shunned. I am inclined to believe that whatever is going on doesn't rise to the level where the only appropriate response would be dis-fellowship or shunning.

That's my point. If they think that, they need to expell him for being a layabout backslider. If that's not what he's been discovered to be, they should help him out.

The Pastor-- there wasn't an official church meeting. Just conversations among people familiar with the situation.

I'm going to be honest here, I feel like we support the church to fund ministries, ie, missions, outreach, helping hands, childrens homes, etc,

but if I have a problem, I turn to Jesus and figure it out myself. I have never asked the church for anything, and I don't really expect anyone to help me.

my experience is the church is focused on outreach, not on helping each other.

He's already been dis fellowshipped. Shunning is Biblical.

Don't think that is necessary in this case.

Refusing to help someone financially or even naturally is not dis-fellowshipping or shunning.
