These leaks from various sources the last few years have revealed sources and methods as well as actual individuals who are resources to our National Intelligence Agencies. All of which have compromised our ability to find out critical information and has also resulted in foreign human intel sources being identified and compromised. I consider that treason. I think Snowden should never see the light of day in a small dark prison room.

So if the CIA is doing something dangerously illegal, even treasonous, and someone blows the whistle on them, the whistleblower is the bad guy and should be punished?

I don't think that's exactly what he's saying. Even though civilians feel that they have the right to know if and when their government is being corrupt, and is doing something illegal, by exposing the government actions they're also hurting themselves as well. Now the government's other enemies, foreign, and domestic also know what is going on behind the scenes, and how our government operates in part, and is giving them the foresight to design new programs, to hide from the government eyes.

It's like that saying goes, "Don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing"

Which reduces to what I said: those who expose treason should be tried as traitors because " it's illegal".

I guess those who exposed Communist crimes in the USSR and who were punished and executed for "treason" got what they deserved because it "hurt the state".
