Webby, glad to know you're in TN and close to Jackson! Stop by our church sometime and say HI!! We are off the bypass if you turn right on Oil Well Road. If you eat at Brooksie's Barn (buffet), we are right in front of it.

Brooksies is probably the best buffet in town; way better than Casey Jones Village. Their chicken strips are wonderful; they don't look that amazing, but their flavor is great. Stop by sometime!!

Casey Jones Old Country Store restaurant used to have low ratings with the health department several years ago. Hopefully, that has improved. The Backer's Rack in downtown has a fairly good lunch - but not as much "character" as when it was in the other location prior to the tornado!

Then after a couple of weeks doing that and filling it up, we rented a store front, and then they started attending there. They were with us almost the entire time. And they stand behind us and our decision to close with complete understanding .

Glad you had a nice day!

Three of the couples who pastored there we knew personally, so I wondered if you'd attended church there. We were there in that church for a service.

I was saved in England. It took a year before I found a church that taught Oneness but during that time, I had repented, been baptized in Jesus name by a Baptist chaplain, and was filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidience of tongues in my flat. The church was a UPC fellowship in Oxford. I had a wonderful first pastor.

Wow. Very interesting testimony you have sis.
Did you go to England to go to school there?

No, my exhusband was in the military and he was assigned to go there. Unfortunately he never converted. Very long sad story.

I'd love to hear your "whole" story. I love testimonies of how people got saved and how they received the Holy Ghost.
Also love to hear about how pastors/preachers/missionaries received their call to ministry.
Thank for sharing sis.

I can tell you in pieces because it really is long. My exhusband was stationed in Florida and we had just gotten the orders to go to England. We led at the time was what I thought was a normal life for young married childless military couples. We both worked and partied with our friends on the weekend. This part is hard to explain, but I woke up one morning with a foreboding of impending doom. I thought I was going to die. Physically and psychologically I was fine, but I had this strange feeling I didn't have much longer to live. I tried to shake it off but every day the same feeling was there when I woke up. Finally I broke down crying and prayed in my room sitting on my bed. I didn't repent. I didn't make any promises to God. I asked Him to let me live. I remember saying I wasn't even sure who He was or who Jesus was.
Well, that feeling went away and I sort of forgot about it, although I had a new desire to read the Bible. My husband had been given a small copy of the NT by the military and I was tempted to throw it away before but never did. It sat on the lower shelf of the coffee table. I'd been drawn to read it but about that time a fear would come over me that something bad would happen if I did. An irrational fear, I know, but true. So I didn't read it.
Months later, I arrived in England. We went to a local pub the first night and met another American military couple. The girl's name was Jane. They were from Indianapolis. The next day Jane gave me a tour of the small town we lived in and after we went to her flat. She had a black velvet picture of Jesus with the crown of thorns on his head. Inserted into the frame were pics of her family. Her dad was an evangelist and had a Bible in his arms. As she was telling me about her family and explaining what an evangelist was, it led into her tellling me how she had been saved six months earlier. Normally before the time I had prayed in Florida for God to spare me, I would shut down anyone who wanted to talk to me about God. But now I was open to hearing what she had to say. As she spoke about her family and how she became a Christian, she started speaking in other tongues. I could tell she was a little embarrassed because it just came out of her as we were talking. I asked her what the tongues were and she explained the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I wanted what she had because what she had was real. I grew up in a spiritually dead ritualistic Catholic church. I asked her what I should do. And she told me to read the Bible, the NT in particular. I repented when I read the gospels.
It was a great day for me!
