WASTE OF TIME BY THE GOP!!!! They need to spend energy on issues that really matter to people. Not fake scandals.

-Yes the state dept. denied additional security. Guess who else did? Stevens himself. Twice! The last one being a month before the attacks.
-It is very obvious that it was a planned attack by a militia in Libya
-However, many media outlets report that the militants purposefully used the video as the reason for their attack, and even gathered a crowd of outsiders who were angry at the video
-Given that we didn't have eyes on the ground till an hour after the attack had started, and given most of the people in the area BELIEVED the attack to be caused by the video, and give the CIA email from the CIA Terrorism Intelligence department mentioned the video as the reason, and GIVEN there were about a dozen other protests in and around the ME because of the video, I don't blame the administration for getting it wrong. I don't think it was a cover-up, I think it was just a mess up in intelligence. But again your GOPers can excuse a mess up in intelligence for 9/11 and the Iraqi, but not something as common place as an attack on an embassy or consulate. Its nothing more than politicizing a tragic event.

THERE IS NOTHING TO UNCOVER HERE!
We will find out. Trey Gowdy is pushing for Depositions over being asked to testify. He wants question, question, question, with no chance to obfuscate before a committee hearing of 5-minute pop questions and answers. I am for that!

Ok. Well it will turn out to be a huge waste of time. Mark my words. The facts just dont add up to what the GOP wants it to. Sorry to burst your bubble.

You aren't bursting my bubble. I believe Trey Gowdy will be fair even if it turns up nothing, which at this point, I don't believe there is nothing there.

They didn't trot out the video mantra for no reason. It was planned to cover up their incompetence.

It is a fact that on September 12th, the Libyan Ambassador stated that the attack was a terrorist attack and had NOTHING to do with a video. And it is a fact that Mike Morrell is on record testifying before a house committee that he was shocked that Susan Rice came out with the video narrative - FIVE days later, because none of their intelligence connected that attack with the video. Greg Hicks who was involved also testified the attack had nothing to do with a video.

So, we want to know who put out the narrative and why. And we will also want to know why all criticism to the State Department was washed and sanitized. Looks like Hillary has her hands all over this one.

Re: House Select Committee on Benghazi

Major Members of Select Committee.

Other than Jim Jordan, who is the bomb as well, I don't know the other people.

Chairman: Rep. Trey Gowdy

Rep. Jim Jordan

Rep. Peter Roskam

Rep. Martha Roby

Rep. Susan Brooks

Rep. Mike Pompeo

Rep. Lynn Westmoreland

Here's the basic 411 on these people from their wiki pages:

Westmoreland – Tea Party Caucus enough said.

Pompeo – elected in the 2010 Tea Party wave, ex-military, Koch brothers support, Lifetime NRA member, supported the government shutdown, urged rejection of Sotomayor, Pro-Life, supports the total repeal of Obamacare.

Brooks – Definitely a member of the GOPe elected in 2012. US Attorney for Southern Indiana 2001-2007 appointed by GWB, Is being opposed in this year’s primary by a Tea Party candidate.

Roby – Elected in the 2010 Tea Party wave, was endorsed by Newt and Sarah Palin, is a staunch conservative, supports total repeal of Obamacare, voted to cut 39 Billion from welfare budget, anti-amnesty.

Roskam – Part of the GOPe as Chief Deputy Whip but seems to be fairly conservative, pro-tax cuts, anti-amnesty, he’s from Illinois so thats about the best we can expect from that state.

Jordan – His voting record - pro-defense, pro-life.

What is this supposed to show other than this is a partisan witch hunt? The GOP is nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites. They want to burn obama and co at the stake for politicizing this whole event, so what do they do? Continue to, despite numerous briefings and hearings to the contrary, politicize this whole thing. Are we going to have a hearing once a year on this? This is a continued waste of tax payer money and elected officials time.

Your blind bro. You see what you want to see and ignore anything else. I am done talking about this with you. Its like running in a hamster wheel with people like you. Ill just bump this thread to the top when the witch hunt is over and the SAME facts are found. No cover up!

Look, if they had not trotted out the video as being the reason for the terrorist act in Benghazi, contradicting the Libyan Ambassador; holding back an email stating the reason they were using the narrative, until Judicial Watch forced it out of them, they wouldn't be in this pickle.

Sit tight and let the process pay itself out.

I won't be responding to anymore on this thread until and unless new information is produced. IOW, I will update any further information regarding the depositions that Trey Gowdy is taking. This Select Committee doesn't limit the questioning to five minutes like a Congressional hearing does.

It would not surprise me, with the GOP's refusal to stand up to Obama on anything, that it is the GOP now engaged in a cover-up "for the good of the country".
