How did I think wrong? You words are your words. You can try to backpedal and obfuscate your intention or meaning, but what's written has been written.
And then you edit and add on to the prior statement above, seemingly to suggest that I'm guilty and that's the reason I'm defensive about it. Could it be that your statement was ridiculous and your indictment was so offensive that that is why I'm defensive about it?
It was a terrible statement that is unfounded, and doesn't apply to a majority of people today.

Trying to clarify is not back-peddling, I meant what I said. I am not responsible for how you took it, however I do want to be sure I communicated as well as possible. I edited for the same reason, a late thought that didn't seem worthy of a whole new post... I did not remove anything. Nice of you to try to make it a me against AFF issue though... sheesh...
There are people here claiming that racism is a 'thing of the past'... ummm...no. I, like many others that are assumed to be white, have heard exactly what folks think when they believe they are in supportive company and it's very different than what they say publicly... Or maybe you don't live in the south... I'm honest to say that it's not just a black/white issue. Many Latinos hate blacks... Asians used to be despised but now have a reputation of being highly intelligent, middle-eastern folks are widely despised. And those who live in little racial bubbles and have no exposure to or interaction with other races are much more easily able to dehumanize those of other races.
I hate to just say it outright but if you were that offended... well.. tough noogies.

How else is someone supposed to take it? There is only one way to take it....

Because if you do these things, chances are you are part of the problem, not the solution and no amount of saying how you believe that people are equal will change that.

What are other ways to take that statement? You insinuate I'm not viewing it the right way; although I'm not the only one who's posted against the statement, which means others have misinterpreted it as well.
How else are we supposed to take the statement?

Funny thing is that telling a wm and bw couple they will have a hard time making it doesn't match up to stats, they are 43% less likely to divorce then all white couples.

I don't look white at all, as my dad looks like he is full blooded Hispanic not Apache as he is! But TB asked my nationality and said I looked "Mexican" ???? I replied NO I am American Indian from the Apache Tribe ~Apache Mohave (Yavapai) and Apache Yuma. But as for your post....you are correct. It seems interracial couples have LESS issues than a couple of the same ethnicity IMO and from what I have seen in my own family and close friends.

Re: George Zimmerman's Ethnicity?
I'm black, I look black, at least I consider myself black, no matter how many times I'm asked, or told otherwise. Even though racism and prejudice is alive and well in America, and even the world, just because you're against certain actions that seems to be associated with certain races, doesn't mean that you're racist. I guess I just hate when people try to live up to these preconceived (often negative) stereotypes, that if you don't act like the stereotypical race, or stereotypical sex, etc., then something is wrong with you. That you need to act your "culture", that you're a sell-out, hate your race, because you're not into the things that they say that your race should be into. I know this will probably will never happen, but I wish people would just live and let be, and would be color blind, and stop judging everything by race.
I live in a predominately white area, about 50-60% white, and 40-50% is a mixture of just about everything else, but mainly hispanics, blacks, and asians. When I was a child, teenager, and now as an adult, the mistreatment that I got, the racists remarks that I received, prejudicial comments, were mainly from blacks. I was judged because I didn't dress like what they call their culture dresses (skimpy, tight clothes, and expensive, ugly sneakers), I didn't talk how they think I should have talked (using their slang), I wasn't all that into the food that they say only good black people eat (pig feet and chitlins) , I didn't care for the music that they thought that blacks should only listen to (rap and r&b), the books, movies, shows etc.. And that because I wasn't into these things that they think makes me black, then I wasn't black. That I couldn't be into other things, that if I was what they called "goody" that I was acting "white"
And it is something how some blacks seem to think that everyone is racist and prejudice towards them, and don't even realize how racist they are. I remember talking to a coworker, and she was asking someone about a show, and asked if there were any ethnic (black) people in it, because she can't watch a show full of white people, even if there were other races, only thing mattered was that there was not blacks. Another time she was thinking about moving, and said that some city had too many whites, or another city had too many asians, and she didn't care to live in a city full of white people. Now if someone white, or of another race would have said that about blacks, they would say that they are racist, but it's not so with some blacks, because it's just "the facts of life".
I don't know, but in my experience, it seems that some blacks look more on race then others. Everything is a race issue. If someone looks at someone funny, they think they looking at them because they're black, and not because of the pants hanging almost to your knees, or the fake grill you have on your teeth. And if someone don't like you, they think that it's because they're black and not because you just cursed them out, or have been unruly for no apparent reason. And if a salesman comes to your door, and look at you with disgust, it's because a black man can't afford such a fine house in such a neighborhood, and not because of the rank odor and dirt stains on the front of your clothes.
And of course I'm wise enough to know that this is not how all blacks act, I'm just talking about the majority of the ones that I've encountered. I don't like to prejudge people, and only like to react towards people based on what they actually do or say, but it's sad that it's rare that I actually find someone of my race, who isn't all or mostly about race. You're black, alright, but there's more things in life then just your race.

That was the reason I tried to clarify, which you referred to as 'back-peddling'... ONE LAST TIME... No one has to have done any of the above... but if you didn't or don't date, live in the same neighborhoods as, send your kids to school with, would be comfortable with your kids dating or marrying, have real genuine friendships with, or go to church with people of other races maybe you should re-examine yourself. That is not a suggestion for just the white folks either... it's for all folks.
To say that maybe you've never had opportunity or you had other considerations that have kept you from the above, as PO did is understandable... but dang ndavid at this point... thou protesteth too much!
Oh... and you can take it like I meant it... gently and in love. Peace.

Actually, I think that this just depends. I think everyone profiles people, and uses common sense, and if they don't then well...that's a bit naive. It's one thing to not want to do these things with someone outside your race (or in your race, you can be prejudice against your race too) based solely on that other persons race, no matter how that person acts, talks, have friends with, praised etc.,
But I think it's another thing to not want to engage in these actions with someone, if that person associates their self with the negative stereotypes associated with that race. Or you can at least be weary of them, if they seem to be continually biased towards their race, or give you reason to believe that they would be.
For me, I choose what my actions would be in your bolded statement, based off common interests, goals, likes, security etc., and it's nothing wrong with that, if these things happens to fall out of line with what is common in or out of your race.

I'm just trying to figure out how you meant it; because after my response you claimed I took it the wrong way. I'm glad you included the bolded part above this time. Would that have been stated previously, I may have still disagreed, but not as much as you gave an exception.

I have noticed that a lot of these kinds of problems follow along economic lines. The poorer and more 'low class' people of all races are the more bigoted they seem to be and the more concerned that no one 'cross over' to date or marry out of their race and want everyone to participate in their culture...
And don't feel bad... I hate Tamales and Enchiladas, don't speak Spanish worth a flip (my dad insisted we only speak English) and think illegals should be deported.
