Like I said on the other thread, real Christian's don't go swimming.

Ask Peter.

Besides, look what happened to Jonah when he tried to go swimming. Got ate up by a big fish and then puked out on some foreign shore and then had to go preach doom and gloom to a bunch of godless heathens.

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Where is that, not here on the west coast.

Re: Upc stance on Men's "shorts"

I'm new here, but having been "raised" Wesleyan Methodist (kind of like Mennonite), I've had to ask God to help me sort out all 'the laws, regulations, and just plain a bunch of rules' about dress! I was ALWAYS taught you don't go to Heaven IF you wear pants, shorts, cut your hair, wear jewelry, etc. I guess you get what I'm saying here.
As the Bible says, "The world looks on the outward appearance, God looks on the heart".
"My goal IS to make Heaven my home, by God's Grace, I SHALL make it"!!!!!

On a family church picnic once...the men wore jeans......and the women wore skirts ...... *sigh* cant see the reasoning behind that one. However, I am not saying to go half naked either......one word....MODESTY~ I have heard some preachers say "mixed bathing" is a sin....? you "mix" every day you go out into the world outside of your home! And what is "mixed bathing" anyway? And yet some think going to the beach with a skirt on and "fully covered" you are better than others??? quelle blague!!!!!
It looks retarded totally! I mean , when you go to family outings with a church.....you mix with men and woman...so in other words its ok to "mix swim" with church people, just not worldly people? It does not matter really bc I am not a beach person at all. Never have lived where one is, or where we have hot summers to enjoy swimming, nor do I care to be near the beach.

Re: Upc stance on Men's "shorts"

I'm in SoCal and many of the churches have short wearing men. Even to church picnics etc.

Re: Upc stance on Men's "shorts"

Geesh... strictly wearing long pants is a tradition. I'd say that one doesn't risk sinning if they wear modest shorts. We need to mature past all this legalistic stuff.
