A lot of generalizations and stereotypes have a kernel of truth to them, so unless they're inherently offensive, I still don't get the reaction.

IMO, you read Austin's post as casting aspersions on Whitney being a good SINGER for a "black lady" and responded accordingly--but that would be a completely different argument.

I'm not defending the ignorance of racist remarks; I'm just pointing out that it didn't seem particularly malicious, so why flip out? And you don't need to turn your claws on me just for asking that question.

P.S. Why did you put "hero" in quotes? You didn't admire Sis. McGruder? And yes, she had a very raspy voice.

Odd how you can't post anything on this forum without bring the M's into it.
The hero was a direct quote from one of YOUR previous posts. And yes I admired & loved Sis Mac as I do Shirley Sheldon whom you also mentioned in the same post (you said she was your teacher) I do have other post that do not include the McGruder's. They were a very big part of my life for many years & she was one of the most powerful saints of God I have EVER seen? How come you are so concerned about McGruder postings? Are you a realative?

I guess I made a generalization. Your posts do seem to have a theme to them. No, I'm not a relative--the McGruder's are family friends.

Racist remarks are NEVER ok whether particuarily offensive or not. And whether or not it is offensive to you as a white woman doesn't mean it wouldn't be offensive to you if you were black. I am sure the person who posted it didn't mean anything offensive, but the black woman part was not necessary. As a member, it is shocking to see those in leadership positions defend racist remarks especially people who claim the Holy Ghost. Remember you turned your claws on me & accused me of gossip for posting information from the newspaper about 1 of your 'hero's' Seems you should practice what you preach & treat every one the same After all christian means Christ-like and the Bible says God is no respect of persons!!! God bless you and help you to be a blessing and not a hindrance to people on this forum!

The love for money! No doubt it is the root of ALL evil.
What a dumb remark.

Saying she had a beautiful, clear voice is not an accurate description of her talent and is not a reflection of the hard work it took for her to reach the pinnacle of success she did reach.

As for her race-- what do you mean Whitney Houston was black? I didn't know she was black!

tenngalpal, I pretty sure you're holding a grudge because I was the one who moderated your posts, but just FYI, I post here as a MEMBER the same as you. My posts don't represent the Admin unless I post under that moniker or let you know that I am moderating.

I haven't defended any racist remarks on this thread, so your accusations are asinine.

Re: Whitney Houston Dead!

I will say this as kindly as possible. We need to remember what this thread is about.
A very beautiful, talented woman died. She has a family and friends that might, just might, view this thread in an internet search. Is this how we want someone to view Christian discussions? So kindly keep the discussion about what it is, not personal sniping at others.
