Yes sir... that is the point though.

The way a person worships is tradition and it is who they are. If the platform is too loud then the only way that is going to change is sit them all down and put people up there with a similar upbringing and who have developed similar traditions to those who can't bear it.

What is being asked is this... Hey... you... on the platform. I need you to be like me. I need you to like what I like and do like I would do. I know this isn't who you are but I need you to give a praise from who I am.

It is tradition... on all sides.

It's not biblically based... on either side.

Re: Loudness In Churches.

When it comes to people becoming uncomfortable, I think the sound system should be turned down! I've seen it many times when people, especially older ones, have to cover their ears...because the loud noise actually causes pain.

I really think we have raised up a bunch of people who DO think that noise equals anointing! You take the mic away from them and they wouldn't know what to do...

I love feeling the presence of the Lord, but it doesn't always have to be noisy. Most of the time it's that 'still small voice'....

I agree and in certain size buildings and such I understand a certain level of volume is needed.

LOL... I don't doubt it Brother Epley. One night the pastor of the church we were attending put a big cymbal out and gave people the opportunity to come up and give it a good beating. The pastors wife got up there and she went crazy on that thing.

The Lord spoke to me as clear as day so I went up there to her and told her that she had just brought her son home. (He had moved to Colorado at the time). She received the word and rejoiced.

When they got home from that service their son was in the driveway waiting on them.

I'll never forget that service.

Re: Loudness In Churches.

I'd suggest that many of you stay away from predominately black churches. We sing often at local COGIC churches around here and man oh man... we forevermore have some church.

At those churches when they have a singing everybody and his brother that can play a guitar, drums, keyboard etc just brings it with them and sets it up and there might be between half dozen & a dozen guitars going at one time.

There's nothing quiet about those services.

Re: Loudness In Churches.

3 posts in a row of my own...but I'll try and be quiet after this one.

I'll certainly agree that there is a point where the music etc is too loud. But I'll also say this. We can also reach a place where are too complacent and we are used to just sitting down and "being served" in song and word.

We can get used to a service that is low key and reserved and we rarely see a move of God rather than commonly see such a move. A lot of churches can go years without tongues & interpretation, prophesy etc coming forth.

It can, indeed, go both ways and in both areas there can be people who are too excuberant or others who are too judgmental.

But, as I always heard growing up, "Don't worry about wildfire too much as there are always plenty of wet blankets around to help put it out"
