To tell you the truth you haven't missed much.

However despite that I am not against TV. (Yes I am an Acts 2:38 preacher)
I always say that if a person can not master or control their TV then it is best for them to get rid of it.
I like to discourage TV viewing but I do not prohibit it, I prefer to let God deal with each individual soul. it is more effective that way.

"1 Corinthians 6:12
Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything.
In my expirence, Most "preachers" that will not preach against it usually means that either they watch tv and don't want to give it up themselves or a relative close to them wathes tv and they dont want to fight them over it.

well I do not preach against tv, because I prefer to preach against sin.

I preach against the messages that come from TV. I preach against adultery, fornication, drug use and other things that TV glorifies, I find it more useful to preach against sin than against a machine.

I do not preach against computers or the Internet (Which has much more evil things than TV). I preach against sin in al its forms.

Re: Return to "standards/notv"?

I really wonder what the effectiveness is on those who have no TV and what kind of witness it's been for their relatives and their world...

...versus someone who does have TV and the effectiveness of their witness to those around them.

I'd say, from experience, those without TV who don't believe in it or refuse to accept its reality and existence probably haven't had as much of an impact. I can't see how isolationism has any benefit whatsoever, except for those who cater to the "choir."

TV/internet is a non-issue. Sin is an issue. Most importantly, priority with God is an issue, which if taken seriously and lived accordingly, there would be no need to specifically point out TV/internet as an evil thing. It's not the object; it's the substance.
