How do you get "Pastor" (singular) from the verse you've cited? "Them" and "they" are plural here. It was never intended to be a one man show.

No response to this yet. Interesting.

Not sure that disagreeing with what the pastor teaches would qualify someone to be called a false prophet.
I guess the question is...do the scriptures support the teaching of the pastor or do they support the individual that's in disagreement with the pastor?
Pastors really can't just make up stuff on their own to teach...they are required to teach & preach the Word. If the pastor's not preaching & teaching the Word, it would be advisable to find somewhere else to worship.

That is what all these sorts of threads are pointing to -- supporting standard keeping. No pants on women and no makeup, jewelry, etc. So do not use the smoking and drugs thing.
The bible gives common sense principles to abide by. regarding the undergirding spirit of standards that this thread is really about, God gave a principle that applies to every culture and generation in Deut 22.:5. Men dress like men and women dress like women. He did not dictate what the mode should be because God was relying on culture to determine that. IOW, he mentioned nothing about pants. This is how the bible gives PRINCIPLES. The bible said to not abuse the body, too. That covers obvious abuses like smoking and drugs, etc. But it is abuse of the bible. speaking of abuse, to say the bible teaches pants on men alone unless the culture of the day generally prohibited pants on women. Let's not discard the basic common sense of biblical PRINCIPLES, nor confuse details into them that are not there..

Re: Pastors
I'll say it again..Pastors with that much power is a reciple for disasters on part with Jim Jones who lead his congregations to sell all, move to a remote location and then commit suicide and Earl Paulk who was doing have his female congregations including the wives of other men

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Just pretend it's me! It captures the way I've been feeling lately.
... (actually, I dunno. It's a stock photo from sometime around the 1930s. I posted it in response to RandyWayne's use of avatars).
