Re: The Royal Wedding - Prince William and Kate

I had zero interest in the whole thing. In fact I find it annoying that this actually get's so much air time on the News when there are more important issues to report on.

The so called "Monarchy" is a facade.

Married men only go to weddings because their wives make them

Single men only go to hook up with single women

I heard on the radio someone saying that women watched for the emotion of it all

Men watched, IF any men watched, purely for the mechanics, the nuts and bolts of a Royal wedding.

BTW why do we care more about the British monarchy than say....the Japanese?

  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

I saw a picture of Carol Middleton's outfit in the news. Totally gorgeous. I loved the piping for the trimwork - so sleek and clean-lined! The slit in the back was just perfect - awesome. The piping was just perfect for this style. Her shoes were perfect. Lovely, lovely dress.

Nah, I didn't care about the emotion. Didn't feel any.

I just love the beauty of it. I love beautiful things. I loved looking at the clothes, the flowers, the decorations, the fancy carriage with white horses. The men in their fancy uniforms. It's just all so pretty. I love pretty.

No, not really. I think that it's weird that there is only one place in the Bible that it states that you do anything in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, which is in the act of baptism (whether you do that or not isn't the point of this thread though ).

I've been to many services where they use this particular phrase all over the place and for any reason. I thought that it was peculiar that the two were married in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit and not just 'pronounced' man and wife or which ever way they want to say it. It's not a oneness or trinity thing, it's just a phrase that some churches seem to have given 'extra' life to and I found it mildly noteworthy.

FS&HG is just "standard" phraseology for rituals in the RCC and those who follow her traditions, isn't it? The service was Anglican or English Catholic instead of Roman Catholic but they are pretty much the same otherwise except that the Anglican church is under the monarchy and the Roman church is under the pope.

A couple of comments on facebook talked about the boring church service, but I actually enjoyed it, especially the actual sermon and the boys' choir. There's something comforting in the traditional words and music, although I don't think I would enjoy it all the time. I would love to have been right there in the WA, experiencing the wonderful acoustics in person.

On to more shallow observations:

Prince Harry turned around to check out the bride, grinned mischievously, and then turned back to his brother (who was facing the other direction and waiting for Kate to arrive at the altar) and made some sort of comment. I wish I could have heard what he said...

Kate's dress was absolutely beautiful, classy and timeless. I'm so happy that she didn't choose anything terribly modern or wear anything revealing (not sure that would have been allowed anyway). She looked gorgeous. And Prince William looked very handsome in his uniform--I think it was his RAF uniform, but I'm not sure. Prince Harry looked very nice as well.

Jeffrey said that he wants to dress up as a Prince for Halloween.

*waiting for the possible royal kiss now* --more later--
I voted not a chance, however I did watch the whole thing the next evening.LOL
I also enjoyed the church service, it had substance, yet I wonder how much of England actually believes and lives what they are supposed to embrace?
The monarchy in England is really not a monarchy at all, they don't rule the country, so it is really kind of funny that the are call royalty and even Kate is a commoner????
O yeah, I did roll my eyes on the "...for richer or poorer..." I thought Kate did as well.

Camilla and Charles are pretty much persona non grata in England aren't they?
