In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter

Why thank you! I feel that way about myself, too, but I try my best to be humble. And it's "you're", not "your" in the way you used the word. You're welcome. Just wanna be a blessing. I added after I posted that President Obama professes his Christianity in the opening article that was posted.
My response that you don't like and called "Childish" contains a point if you think reeeeeeeaaaaaallllll hard. Give it a shot.

I got it , but it was a moot point, more childishness.
Here are is what I found interesting, if your up for real discussion.
He proclaims to be a christian, but did you notice how he refers to it more often as just being a "guide" so to speak ?
Quote:
"the precepts of Jesus Christ" helped him envision the kind of life he wanted to lead.
|
Quote:
and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead - being my brothers' and sisters' keeper, treating others as they would treat me," he continued.
|
Quote:
"And I think also understanding that Jesus Christ dying for my sins spoke to the humility we all have to have as human beings, that we're sinful and we're flawed and we make mistakes, and that we achieve salvation through the ," Obama said. "But what we can do, as flawed as we are, is still see God in other people and do our best to help them find their own grace."
|
Achieving salvation through the grace of God, is the best he has here, which is good. The rest seems to say he follows the examples of Jesus. In other words, not as the Son of God , but as a role model. The same could be said of Ghandi or your local school teacher. Many religions that do not believe Jesus was the Son of God still hold him up as a respected "teacher/role model" . Just seems like he broad brushed the topic to please everyone. But then again, thats his job, so its to be expected.

In his 2006 book The Audacity of Hope Obama wrote, "I was not raised in a religious household... My mother's own experiences... only reinforced this inherited skepticism. Her memories of the Christians who populated her youth were not fond ones... And yet for all her professed secularism, my mother was in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I've ever known

So he professes Jesus as LORD, understands and even articulates grace... but he's misguided in other areas still. He hasn't arrived. He's not fully mature in his discipleship. Sounds like a band of idiots that followed Jesus around. They weren't even sure who he was for a long time. They still didn't understand the Kingdom. But what they did believe about him was enough to continue walking.
If I were a non-Christian, I'd be appalled to see this is how believers treat their own. Confront his doctrine, if you have that opportunity and are in a discipleship relationship in his life, but to continue to question if he's Christian enough is silly to me. No other Prez has had to fend for the orthodoxy/orthopraxy of their faith half as much... and many of them have delievered statements about "respecting all faiths, seeing God in everyone, etc"
