How can I "be filled with the Spirit?" That's nothing I can do for myself. Why would Christ drop the weight of my own salvation as something I must do. That's so contrary to his entire mission. We aren't getting credit. He saved us with His own blood. We simply needed to confess Him as Lord, with faith that He is who He said He is. Everything else is part and parcel of living out this beginning with Jesus.

LOL! Luther was all over the board when it came to beliefs... At one point he was a antinomian and later many would call him a legalist.

Submit to the Spirit and let Him fill you.

I didn't say that.
I believe there are many submissions and many fillings.

There is only one true church which has an unbroken history from St. Peter until the present and we must remain in a state of grace and submission to the leadership of that church to remain saved

Don't they also believe a person is reborn of the Spirit through this?

- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

... repentance brings the blood of Jesus to a sinner’s heart to wipe out and cleanse him from all sin, he should then be baptized in water as a confession of his faith in the atonement...
When a sinner fully repents and confesses before God, the blood of Jesus atones for his sins , and cleanses his heart from all sin, and when he is clean then only is he a fit subject for water baptism. After that comes the promise “…you shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost…” ( Acts 2:38)
The blood and power of the Lord Jesus is the only source of regeneration or the New Birth. Water baptism alone has no power to remit sins, else we could baptize infants as do the Catholics. The Roman Catholic teaches regeneration by water baptism, but it is not according to the Word of God. A candidate for baptism in water should be baptized BECAUSE THE BLOOD has cleansed, remitted, forgiven his sins, and not in order to get them remitted, as WATER ALONE CANNOT WASH AWAY SINS. The old hymn goes:
What can wash away my sins,
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.

To the One steppers...would you agree that he should be baptized as a confession of his faith in the atonement or would you use stronger language like he MUST be baptized as a confession of his faith in the atonement?

Re: The Legalist on Covenant
Luther still believed in baptismal regeneration and infant baptism

This is almost comical.... that is all we need to do be saved? Talk about mental assent doctrine. Not what my Bible says.

Our faith, given to us as a gift by God doesn't include repentance but results in repentance. When we are born again of God he starts a work in us that will be finished. (MY COMMENT: THUS REPENTANCE is the "RESULT" as you said of being born again or POST aspect of being born again) Correct?
True faith is a belief in the promise that whatever has to be done for my salvation has already be accomplished from the foundation of the world. I believe that if I totally submit my heart and life to God he will keep me and ultimately glorify me.
Any works that I am to accomplish will happen as a result of the grace extended to me by God. Not because I did something within myself.

So you believe we are saved BEFORE repentance? WOW you are on the extreme other end.
