Maybe its the difference of selected people being filled prior ro Pentecost and the fulfillment of Joel 2 where God said He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh.

Interesting, so John's intention of putting that in his Gospel account but not finishing it up near the close of the letter is???

We forget that these are letters in and of themselves first before they are collectively scripture. John speaks for John.

Seems He was available to those that were in tune to the heart of God, not sure there was any real limitation on Him before Pentecost. But the scripture does seem to support your position.
