Satan's goal is to destroy mankind... even if he's only successful in destroying one, for he knows his time is short. If Jesus died for ALL... and ALL are not reconciled... well... mission not accomplished.
Did Jesus die for all Derech?

The notion of eternal torments and trials such as those associated with Prometheus is pagan also.

Yes I do but why would he go and preach to them?I was under the impression it was for the saints, however it would not be fair to the other's who never heard of Jesus. This is why God don't want anyone going to Hell, especially if they had never been told about JESUS.This presents a problem,I don't imagine anyone down in the heart of the earth rejecting the Christ. So he got them all, nobody would reject Jesus in a place like that.Would you?
makes you think don't it.

Cause King James Translators got it right.
Hell: Hel: Helling: To bury, cover, preserve, literally the grave.

I don't imagine them rejecting Christ either...perhaps that's the point. First, to get them to accept his Lordship. Second, to punish sufficiently for their sin. Third, to suffer sufficiently as to purify their nature that in the end all might be reconciled.
If Christ preached to the dead once and salvation was offered... would God be justified in doing it again seeing that he is no respecter of persons?

Re: What is the purpose of Hell?
Derek... do you believe that those who are vaporized by God will exist in a state of death forever?

Problem with this theory is...
They did not reject Christ. They received an opportunity to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.
Jesus told us to spread the gospel all over the earth. The one's that hear the gospel since the cross until now have the opportunity to accept him.The ones that don't,the ones who reject Christ, there is no other sacrifice for their sins. Then what?
