We had a guy like this in our church. He couldn't tell the truth. His lies were so outrageous at times that they were convincing. Finally, his lies caught up with him and he had forged documents and had been cashing fake checks when the police came to get him he killed himself.

The weird thing was that he had lied enough to get in good with certain people in the governors office and because of this was able to give credibility to his lies.

btw,
just a thought for my fellow AFFers:
If we are addicted to, fascinated by, or even strangely infatuated with, human failures among folks who say they are preachers...we can have our entire imagination pressed down and overflowing with joy-stealing stuff.

The fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is still something each one of us need to consider our own tempation to look upon. Do any of us really think eating this stuff would be good soul food?

I'm glad he was caught. After the information we received about the previous cases of fraud that had gone unprosecuted-- I hope the evidence is brought forth by the victims and that they can add it to the list of charges against him.

Pewman,

I understand what you are saying, but on the flip side, we had many here that did not understand our non-tolerance of his carnal-mindedness.

Just because someone says they are a preacher doesn't make them automatically perfect. He took advantage of a lot of innocent, good people.

That is what I'm hoping too.

I absolutely agree with the sober importance of DB participants understanding the degree to which deception can be "foisted" into the mix of this kind of interaction.

I guess I am just expecting the typical "dog pile" of carnality among folks energized by any kind of expose' that makes them feel more righteous...while having season tickets in the apathetic section of the bleacher seats.

Hopefully not, but this guy took several here for a ride.

I do not recall all the specifics surrounding the not-so-good Doctor, but I tend to recall it was largely a feeding-frenzy among the fishes who smelled blood in the water concerning some fiction involving his secular academic credentials.

I admit that those of us who are not owners/admins/mods would not be aware of the extent that any poster may be actively involved in minipulation and misrepresentation.

I am hopeful we can be reminded of perils WITHOUT endless commentary while staring into a tent with a bare-nekkid drunk laying coiled up in some fetal position.
