I wonder if some are able to discern the biases of others without their own biases getting in the way?
I only wonder though... I don't attempt to figure it out... Because I may not be able to discern whether others can discern the biases of others without their biases getting in the way without my efforts being affected by my own biases.

We all are guilty of judging by appearances at one time or another. We could do an experiment to eliminate the bias of judging by how someone looks on the outside.
Don't watch the video while listening to it. Do the words and music move you to worship God?

I don't think that any biases that people are working with come from viewing the video.
The pivotal factor appears to be the music style.
I haven't heard anyone finding the sight of her singing as pivotal nor has anyone had anything negative to say about he words.
It is the repetition & driving music style that is the galvanizing factor in my view.

I am going to reply a second time because I think the post may have been reworded from when I had originally read it.
To fold down the window and listen would do this for me...
The words are repetition of repetition. While each sentence might well hold a good message. About the 14th time I am ready to hear another sentence.
The music... and this is just me stating words to express my opinion.. please don't get angry at me... i am not saying anything about anyone elses view of the music...
But... the music... reminds me of stoner music. I have never done drugs but it just reminds me of something you could slide back in your chair with a good doobie and take it in. LOL.
It has a tribal drone to it that mezmerizes the mind. It is... white noise... it is... a hypnotic drone that shuts the mind down.
Okay... many will feel different. No problem. Not in the least. But... I have taken a few words to attempt to draw a mental picture of what I feel in listening to the music and how I feel about the over repetitive nature of the words.
Again... not judging her... just stating my feelings.

I am not big on music although I very much enjoy the expression of praise and loud praise seems very appropriate in many circumstances.
IMO, the "repetitous/loop" delivery approach is to bring an audience into the rythms by something similar to a charm. This causes me to ask myself if the ministry is being constructed by a keen awareness of a carnal formula.
I enjoyed listening to the product, but the scans across the audience did not help me determine if there was edifying taking place.
I do find it interesting that most apostolic 'edgy' types (I count myself and my AFF posters as toward the edgy end of the spectrum) are intensely aware of oratory that uses hype to minipulate an outcome in the audience. Yet in seeming contrast, when it comes to musical presentations, we just kind of expect some kind of patterns to entice our buy-in.
So Misty, keep on doing whatever you do and we as individuals can decide if we love the rapid sense of gratification we feel rise up in us or if we love the God who raised us up.
Sorry, i got to get back to
dance, dance, dance, dance, dance ,dance ALL NIGHT!

We certainly are allowed to enjoy and appreciate what we like. I think of it more in the light of a glorious praise and worship time as before the throne in Heaven.
Various times in Psalms YHWH tells us he likes it LOUD! I have seen the same kind of loud driving music in Pentecostal Churches many times.
As far as repetitious praise does YHWH like that or not?
6: And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
7: And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8: And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Rev. 4:6-8
It seems as if he likes it! The four beasts before his throne do nothing else but praise him saying Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty which was and is and is to come!
Some might get tired of hearing that but not YHWH.

3 words in a row in one sentence of a number of verses in a row is not equal or even near to the level of repetition in these songs.
Not by any measure.

I'm actually glad that you mentioned that. I just bought Misty Edwards new album and love it, because it's music that I use while I pray and feel is deeply anointed, contrary to how many on this forum feel. However, someone mentioned Kim Walker earlier on this thread-and she blows me away. Her solo CD along with all of the Jesus Culture albums are all albums that I listen to at least daily. Here's a clip of Jesus Culture singing an old hymn with a bit of a twist. Beautiful none the less.
