Blackberry Curve is what I use. It really depends on what you plan to use it for. If you do a ton of email, I recommend a physical keyboard - if you just want to do a lot of browsing, and some short texting - then I think touchscreen or keyboard works.
Blackberry browser is lousy, but it's getting better. But the Blackberry is an email powerhouse - particularly if you have a corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server driving it. I can enter email, contacts, calendar events in my BB, and it syncs wirelessly to Outlook and vice versa. This is great for checking email - if you read it in one place, it shows as "read" everywhere. I send something from my BB, and it shows in "Sent Items" in Outlook. That is the real beauty of Blackberry technology. If you are not in a corporate environment, it levels the playing field somewhat and diminishes some of those advantages. I post here on my Curve quite a bit, and can type very fast on the keyboard. I didn't want a Bold, because I type too much and didn't want the touchscreen.
I don't really get the wi-fi thing. If I'm that near a hotspot, I'll use my laptop. Most of what I do on my BB is low-bandwidth.
I carry it on my belt (like a nerd), and prefer hard cases that it "snaps" into verses leather cases and such. It's also important to get a case specifically meant for a blackberry as they have special magnets that let the BB know if it is holstered. That's important for ring preferences. If mine is holstered, it vibrates - out of the holster it rings.

The Curve would have been my second choice. The Epix has wiFi as does the Bold - but not the Curve (I am told) Guess i will be the Nerd then - I will have mine on the belt 100% of the time.
If using a web based mail (like Yahoo) then showing the e-mail as read should be a given no matter how or where it is read.

True. And Gmail has a really good app for mobile devices. It pushes email to you so you don't have to go check it.

I just got a Blackberry Curve but haven't had a chance to get it all figured out yet. My husband opted for a Palm Treo.
Kewl. Please let us know how you are liking the Curve and the Treo. We will be getting another PDA soon - just don't know if it will be another Epix or something else.
