Re: Contract Question

Yes, a discussion has been held.

Just curious if this is a standard practice. As a leader you should not be ashamed of what you have your members/staff sign to be public. There is nothing to hide if there is something to hide then one might be upset.

Assumptions and hypothesis can be made why this was posted, the contract was posted to post a question of practice no other motive.

Thank you for all of your feedback. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

It definitely appears to "standard" practice...

Re: Contract Question

Seriously, it is fairly common within and outisde apostolic ranks. From church to church, the requirements differ.

Re: Contract Question

The first one was last year for only the platform.... This year it's platform and Sunday School. This has never been a standard practice before last year.

Re: Contract Question

Just curious, is your church having a problem with many people not following the church standards?

Re: Contract Question

Not that I'm aware of..... Our Pastor has been here for almost 10 years now, the Church has had it's struggles but the Church keeps moving forward. In the past we have signed commitment cards that were very general and anyone in every department had to sign them. The commitment was for a year.

Re: Contract Question

I wouldn't sign it; big surprise

I know of many churches that currently have this type of requirement. My main issue is that it boxes off/out some saints from participating.

I know of an individual that is quite talented on piano/organ. In the past did play for services but as more and more younger ones became competent to play was no longer used.
Later they instituted the platform standards. This person follows the letter of the law....hair,clothing, jewelry, etc The guilt alone would kill them!
This person was not comfortable signing this type of "contract" and therefore did Not.
Sunday service on holiday weekend.............many many families gone out of town. Pastor announces they will have to sing without music since no one could play......lie, lie, lie....the talented individual was sitting in the pew ; BUT had not signed the paper
I call that just plain dumb!

.....when we lived in another state (1972) they had a much simpler but nonetheless" required statement" to sign to be used in the SS dept. Wish I had a copy...
I was young and stupid, what can I say, I signed it!

Re: Contract Question

Of the specific contract given, I think it is just plain silly and about one half step away from "Waco". But between being asked to not schedule any family time to interfere with "church" (which is blatantly non-biblical) and "not speaking evil" which is code for "do not question", your only a half step from being asked to offer your wife and daughter to the "head father" as a sign of submission to him.
