Also, I suggested that hell could be between death and the final judgment. The lake of fire is after it. The Bible makes a distinction between the two.

I agree.

Re: Hell In Question

Many years ago I was asked to prove by the Bible that Hell was a place of torment where we were tormented forever if we went there. I could not prove that it was like we are taught it was.

Re: Hell In Question

I was listening to a preach once telling a story that I had heard for the uptenth time about a teenager that had come to church, rejected God, and had a car wreck when he left church about a block away. These preachers had all come upone this car wreck and the teen was screaming that he could fell the flames of hell were licking at him already. It was then that I relized, that there are lies and then there are preachers illistrations...

Jesus taught often by parables but he let it be known that they were parables.

I believe that a "preachers illustration" presented as truth is also a lie.

I have often heard that hell in the bible is simply referring to death and the grave. Others say that hell was used in reference to a dump site that was continuously aflame. I've even heard that hell is simply a cessation of being, meaning that when a Christian dies, they spend eternity with God, but when a sinner dies, they have no form of eternal life, they just lose out on life eternal after losing their temporal life. An eternity of death.

Of course there is the ever popular "lake of fire" where one burns for all eternity (depicted by some as being the aforementioned ever burning dump site). ((This version of hell is close to the Islamic [I believe] version of hell, where one is sent to a place filled with boiling water so hot that your skin melts off, then gets put back on and you suffer the whole thing over again for all eternity.))

I look forward to your perspectives on the subject of hell. Please include scripture to support your views.

God bless.
You will find a very indepth study on this subject at the following link:

Apparently, there are still some that tell the story of the deep hole in Siberia where they recorded screams in hell. Sigh.

That story has been exposed as a myth, over and over. As you know.
