Actually that is part of the lure for the suicide bomber.

Automatic ushering to paradise.

Seventy two virgins.

And often an offer of a $10,000 check to impoverished relatives left behind.

That too is sad.

All true...BTW did you know part of the lure was not just virgins but little boys that looked like little girls? I kid you not. Early on in that culture little boys were used in place of girls because they had fair skin still etc etc. And sodomy was common place. I had a link saved on my home PC that would petty much shock everyone here. It was a compilation of several anthropological sources (cultural).

They married girls off very young 8-12 and to much older men.

  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Same could be said for a lot of Christians, I suppose. (Except, change the name of their God, of course )

Re: Are you sure you're saved?

You guys are using scripture that was never intended to be used in the way that you are implying.

I don't care if you have been baptized in Jesus' name, spoke in tongues when the Holy Ghost came and are quitely living an outwardly holy life...IF...IF you are not keeping his commandments and walking in the light, you can sing and shout all you want to but you are NOT NOW nor shall you be saved.

Judgment is yet ahead of all of us.

We must not comfort ourselves with misapplied scritpures to give false comfort while at the same time we're NOT keeping His commandments and walking in the light. To do so is to DISPELL the fear of God...the beginning of wisdom. The Word for the whole duty of man is: "Fear God AND keep His commandments."

On the other hand...BE COMFORTED in your heart if it does not condemn you. You then can have confidence toward God. I too am DETERMINED to hold out to the end. Jesus is with me on Him I can depend...BUT so long as I HOLD OUT to the end.

Let's keep some balance here lest some reading these posts assume we are of the eternal security persuasion. Not so! Salvation can be forfeited and often IS forfeited.

LUKE 18
9And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

By the way, how can one be "more" saved than another? Do you have two crowns instead of one? More jewels in your crown? A bigger mansion? A closer seat to Jesus at the marriage supper of the Lamb?

Just curious, I have always thought that either you WERE saved, or WEREN'T?

Isn't that what makes this forum great? We can disagree on some things, but on others, we're lockstep.

I love to converse with folks who are strong in their convictions, but never hold grudges!

Re: Are you sure you're saved?

In the eyes of My Lord, yes, saved.

If some of the "brethren" were to have their way... not so much.
