PO, as I posted the other day re this subject, I always took the term to mean spiritual leader...nothing more.
Some women take things to the literal extreme, in that they suppose it to mean the man stands as a go between the wife/family and God.
I have never believed that...

Yes, Barb. I do remember you stating this.
I have been taught the husband was the priest of the home and just wondered why we used the "term".
It's a lot like "antichrist", which is only mentioned in I and II John and not in the context of a proper noun. It is just the ideology behind denying God has come in the flesh. Now we have books and Bible studies about "The Antichrist".

Leading spiritually does NOT make someone THE Priest of anything. Jesus is OUR great High priest implying we go through him to God.
If the man is THE priest of the home that would imply either the rest of the home goes through them somehow to God and Jesus is NOT our mediator between God and man. Or it would imply the woman go through the men to Jesus. What does that make all women then? How do they serve God if they are also not priests to God?
What verse do you use to show men are THE priests? What ORDER are they priests in? Levites?
What about the fact that we are told WE, refering to the church, are a kingdom of priests unto God?
Men can or should be the Spiritual leaders of the household but that does not make them THE priest.

Prax,
Aside from how I titled the thread I am not implying that men are priests. You must have skipped my first post.
Thank you for your response, though. I agree with you, of course.

Great, but why don't we say what we mean and use correct terms? Let's say men are to be spiritual leaders of their households, rather than say priests?
Or should I say end it with a question mark lol

Priest of the home"
Will any of us ever say that again? Probably not.
