I have eclectic tastes in music. I was raise with Southern Gospel as well as Black Gospel. I like any music that is played with passion. Throw down on the banjo, bagpipes, acustic, electric, whatrever, I don't care, just give it all you got in worship and praise to Him.

We were out house hunting today and I realized how right someone was who said southern gospel might as well just be plain ole country crud.... Its honestly horrid!!!! I listened to 2 or 3 songs before I got so sick I wanted to but I listened and the only thing different was they werent talking about cheating.. in the first 2 songs all I heard about was someone dying and someone else hurting and wasnt nothing about Jesus, God, Lord I dont think any of those names etc were mentioned more than maybe once in the songs and they were the most horrid elevator music you have ever heard!!!! Dont have a clue how anyone ever thought of having revival with that kind of music! Makes me wanna run!!! And NOT to the altar!! ROFL

Any one who doesn't like southern gospel won't like our church, because that is what we sing.

I take it you haven't heard songs like "Where Could I Go But To The Lord" or "He Looked Beyond My Fault And Saw My Need." You'll often find that Southern Gospel music is borne out of personal experience, though sometimes you'll get the standard Southern cultural belief (or it seems like a belief) that everyone's mother is going to be in Heaven.

Consider the following list of tracks from a Southern Gospel CD set:

Disc: 1 1. Because He Lives - The Blackwood Brothers 2. He Touched Me - Hovie Lister & the Statesmen 3. Uncloudy Day - Masters V 4. Lead Me to Cavalry - The Oak Ridge Boys 5. Because of Him - The Kingsmen, The Kingsmen 6. I Must Tell Jesus - J.D. Sumner & the Stamps See all 11 tracks on this disc
Disc: 2 1. Old Time Religion - Hovie Lister & the Statesmen 2. What Friend We Have in Jesus - Masters V 3. I Know Who Holds Tomorrow - The Oak Ridge Boys 4. Jesus Loves Me - The Kingsmen, The Kingsmen 5. Oh Happy Day - Gospel Brass 6. In My Father's House - Hovie Lister & the Statesmen See all 11 tracks on this disc
Disc: 3 1. I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy - The Blackwood Brothers 2. How Great Thou Art - Hovie Lister & the Statesmen 3. River of Life - The Oak Ridge Boys 4. Old Ship of Zion - Speers 5. He Looked Beyond My Faults - J.D. Sumner & the Stamps 6. Alone You'll Face Eternity - The Kingsmen, The Kingsmen See all 11 tracks on this disc
