I'm terrified at the thought of Obama getting in, just for this!!!!
We can kiss America good-bye. Obama just doesn't get-it. What was this sparring over what Kissinger said and McCain's answer?
Barack Obama said that even Henry Kissinger agreed with Obama that on a presidential level a diplomatic meeting with as rogue a leader as Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a good idea.
McCain immediately said that this was not true.
"Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality." - Kissinger
A Fox poll is showing that 82% think John Mc Cain won the debate and 16% for Obama, 1% are undecided. Wonder what Obama was thinking when he called Mc Cain "Tom?"
was it an internet poll or was it an acutal poll?
cuz NO internet poll is worth the screen its printed on.
I saw it as pretty much a draw....which means tie goes to Obama.

Personally, I don't have a problem with a candidate saying that they agree with a specific point that an opponent has made if indeed they do agree. The partisan thought that everything that comes out of another person's mouth has to be disagreed with is absurd and usually comes across as disengenuous. I have seen politicians fighting against a true statement just because it came out of the other party's mouth for long enough. If all Obama said all night was "I agree" then I would wonder what the point of the debate was. However, if you are big enough and honest enough to say "Hey I agree with this point, but where we diverge is ______" then more power to you and you will not sound like a partisan talking head.

"Overall, John McCain won tonight's debate. No, he's not a glib, smooth talker like Barack is. But his understanding of foreign policy is so second-nature that he actually attains a kind of eloquence and definite intellectual forcefulness when he discusses it. He's not exciting -- but he does seem experienced and reassuring. In times that are anything but, that may end up being a plus" - Carol Platt Liebau
At the end of the day experience and reassurance wins, IMO.

the only point where Obama agreed with McCain that I felt was funny, was when Obama claimed that McCain's advisor Henry Kissinger agreed with Obama about him meeting unconditionally with Akmadinajad and McCain corrected him and said basically that NO Kissinger DIDNT say that at all, and Obama agreed..... that was funny.
now when they agreed on certain points related to our attitude toward Russia, you are right. nothing odd about that. just a couple of people taking a correct position on something.

Yeah, I feel that way, but I have seen a lot of people basically lambasting him for saying he does agree. I even saw a McCain ad already showing the snippets of him saying he agrees on the areas that he does agree on as if that in and of itself is a negative. The old plays in the partisan playbook will not work for much longer. It is ridiculous for someone to think that you shouldn't say you agree with something that is a mutual position just because someone from the other party said it first. It comes across as disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing. I like to see people in conversation or debate (whether they be religious or political) embrace common ground and use it as a starting point to get into the areas where they diverge. It is small minded to refuse to do so and will basically insure that nothing constructive will get done.
