And to think that I was in a church where something like this would have been told to the pastor "First thing!", who in turn would have informed "in confidence", the entire congregation in a special meeting following a normal service........
Rhoni, agree. My husband can log into my e-mail anytime and likewise, as well as the forum I'm on. We have nothing to hide. I respect my children privacy do not have access to their.
The only thing I hide from my wife are all the "receipt emails" from newegg.com and other places I buy computer stuff from..........

I agree. The outcome could go several ways. The mother wants out of the marriage is glad it is out in the open or the mother straightens up and gives up the extramarital affair and the husband forgives her OR the husband can't forgive her and kicks her out.
There will be some trust lost on all sides.
Statistically, In or out of the church - if the woman is the one having an affair it will end in divorce. Men cannot forgive that sort of thing. It is a threat to their masculinity.
On the other hand, if it is the man...the woman forgives to preserve the home.

Never tell the Pastor...go to an unbiased private professional counselor. If any sides are chosen, in church or families it only adds to the trouble and grief.

Blessings, Rhoni

Statistically? There are statistics about this?
This is a hugely broad brushed statement, Rhoni. I've found it to be about 50/50 in my experience.
In fact, I will go back thru my memory bank, but just off the top of my head, I'd say that I've counseled more couples wherein the woman has had an affair, either physical or emotional, and they've stayed together, rather than the opposite.
