The following qualifications pertain to all applicants for ministerial recognition.

Basic Qualifications:

Salvation. Testimony of having experienced the new birth (John 3:5).

Baptism in The Holy Spirit. Testimony of having received the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues according to Acts 2:4. The Spirit-filled life will enable a minister to fulfill the threefold mission of the church (Article V, paragraph 10, of the Constitution).
According to the report I read the official quoted this but said it was being ignored and I read another report where it is suppose to come up for discussion in the near future whether tongues is the initial evidence of HGB. These were AG reports.

What report are you refering to?

A few months ago there were some reports from the AG on this subject. Since I am evangelizing everything I have is in storage but it seems I remember it being posted on the forum? Maybe I am wrong? But it came out of Springfield I do remember that.

Epley is right. It's been a while coming up and inexplicably it's gained steam among the under 40 crowd in the AG. The younger ministers are pushing for the removal of the "initial physical evidence" language. I can't give you percentages on either side, but I know it's being discussed.

I personally know a general presbyter who sat through a meeting in Springfield in the late spring or early summer where this issue was addressed. He was upset and threatened to withdraw his church, as many others did, if this change in language occured.

I guess the UPC is not the only denomination having to deal with folks who want to water down the core doctrines.

Oh well.
Such is life in the church world.

I want to be clear though. I've not heard any reports of the language "being ignored" in credenitaling ministers or even allowing those of that persuasion in AOG pulpits. I'm not disputing that it's occured in some districts, but I haven't heard of that.

GS Thomas Trask took a very strong position on protecting the initial physical evidence and I expect George O. Wood to do the same. This is a relevantly small minority of under 40 preachers that are trying to get their way, IMO.

Again I could be wrong but I think it was Trask that was bemoaning the fact?

Sarah Palin: friend of Israel?

I'm not sure what bothers me more:
* Joe Biden supports Israel big time.
* Sarah Palin does not.

These are not good times for the American evangelical voters.
