I work for the government and already reviewed it. Can you show me where they will raise my taxes?

The first thing on their agenda is repealing the tax cuts Bush put into effect, which would make it the largest tax hike in US history.
Wouldn't effect my taxes. Technically it wouldn't be a tax hike...it would be returning to the previous tax level where they paid their fair share. You and I are paying a greater percentage of our income than they are.

The American people don't mind paying taxes if they feel they're seeing results. For example, I don't mind paying taxes to sustain a police or fire department. I don't mind paying taxes to support the maintenance of roads and highways. It's about results. The founders waged a war over taxes that did little but bring windfall profits to the British Empire, the benefits of which they would never see.
The Democrats aren't planning on raising my taxes...I'm middle class and already pay MORE than my fair share.

It wouldn't be a tax hike? You can't be serious. Saying it wouldn't be a tax hike is like trying to say the tax cuts weren't really tax cuts.
Well... what I mean by backed by nothing is that there are no precious metals backing the dollar.
In the past the dollar was a certificate that representing a holding of actual intrinsic worth somewhere. Those paper certificates were redeemable for actual precious metals.
Now the dollar is only backed by trust... which is exactly what you said. You stated "It is based on the American Economy... exactly... it is based on the trust of Americas economy. As that trust wanes so does the value of the dollar.
Why is it based on the trust of our economy? Because there is no intrinsic value of any kind behind the dollar (not even fractionally) and so all there is left to lend any value to the dollar is a robust American economy.
So... your statement and my statement of different wordings of the same statement IMO.
At least you and I can have this conversation with civility.... My view is that there is intrinsic value to the American economy. in fact, I would argue that it is more stable as a value indicator than precious medals!
looking back that the last 150 years, ALL of the worst economic times in American history happened when the dollar was backed by Gold or Silver.
consider what the value of gold would be (and thus real inflation) if the US. Dollar was tied to gold as it was in the 1930's. If we suppose the U.S. Economy had grown at the current rate, and the need for more and more actual dollars progressed at the current rate, yet the amount of gold available in the world were static, there would be a signifcant problem.
I simply dont think a gold standard economy is viable with the scale we have today.

Right now I'm paying a greater percentage of my paycheck in taxes than most folks making over $200,000 a year. All I want to know is that they are paying their fair share. Close or cap the tax breaks and allow a number of the tax cuts to expire. They Democratic plan is targetted, it's not a whole hog tax increase.
