Like Sherri, we would also be considered flaming liberals from our UPC brethren. However, I do try my best to preach righteousness and principles of holiness from the scriptures.
I can't remember the last time I preached a message about clothing. I don't even touch on the hair issue. I personally detest tattoos, but I don't preach against them. I don't forbid alcohol consumption, because the bible doesn't. (but I don't have any problem with those who do) I also don't advocate for drinking either and I do preach against drunkenness and dependence on any substance whether it be alcohol, drugs, whether they be prescription or not, tobacco, food, immorality etc. I am against R movies which are designated so due to sexuality and immorality.
I have never required our ministers to wear anything particular. I always wear a jacket but don't always wear a tie. I have never preached against swimming etc.
I am a real "stickler" for doing what is right and being honest and treating each other with respect. I preach frequently about having a relationship with Jesus Christ. I don't require folks to tithe but I teach on it. I honestly don't know who tithes and who doesn't.
I have very few immorality issues in our church.
Now, I'll duck as the rocks are hurled my way!

In swimming do you mean "mixed bathing" as it is called.
We have in our town an on fire growing non pentecostal Wesleyan Methodist.
They sell out our local sprots arena four nights for their christmas program and have 5000 in membership.
One thing kinda bugs me about them and that is that they have a co-ed swimming pool on their church campus.
I have no problem with modest shorts on men or women but taking my shirt off in public is still kind of a "old school" hang up that I have.

Stephen interesting topic. I am sure that I do things differently that the denominal world. Though I will say that I do not know anything of hand. I do go to movies, but not all that often. I do wear shorts and listen to rock music. So I am not far off from some of the people in the denominal churches. I do not have a tatoo which I know some other denominations teach is ok. I don't think it is all that wrong, but I think that moderation is key. I would not be against getting one maybe a cross, but not a fan of being the cliche'. I do not drink at all which some denominations teach is ok. That about covers it.

Teaching principles, and in most cases allow for self-regulation.
I know when first purposed a similar strategy as Admin on a different forum it was met with incredulity. And to be honest there were a few "interesting" weeks before it began to work.
But now I believe we have the absolutely most quiet Admin room of any forum its size.
Sometimes codes of conduct are perhaps easier to 'enforce' through self-regulation than with a whip?

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
I think that one of the reasons that the "traditional apostolic standards" come under fire is the rather hodge-podge way in which they were initially introduced and the regional and cultural "exceptions" that have always been made. They just don't seem to stand up to the test of time as eternal principles.
