Its not that one doesn't need reviving. It's the means of revival I take issue with.
I say revival is an INDIVIDUAL thing.
We can get all excited and huckabuck all we want. But when the lights go out and when the evangelist is gone on to the next church, check out the church in a month or so.
Same old same old.
How does one keep the fire going...?
Prayer...and going out and sharing what God has given you to others...
The event that we have termed 'revival' that goes on in the church and its ensuing effects are not long lasting.
Why there is no follow-up of new converts?
The fire goes out. Prayer wanes. The connection and the power we get at the revival wears off. Then the cares of life and attacks from the enemy gets the saints off focus.
The only thing that I know that keeps us connected to the source which is God, is prayer.
I am not against having services to provoke each other to good works. That is great. That should be happening EACH service.
I am saying let's not just depend so heavily upon the service. The preacher. The evangelist....the five fold ministry. Yes, they are there to edify, to build us up...
But we are responsible for our own growth in God. How far I get in God is ultimately up to me, not my pastor, not my church, not some evangelist coming in town.
I thank God for them, but I don't over rely on them.
Yes, we all need reviving.
But how we get revived needs to be revamped.
We need to pray. Period.
Prayer is the key...
