Re: I Baptized my Kid in Jesus name last night!
I think this is a very good nugget that was posted on another thread. It puts it all in perspective to me.

From a Jewish perspective, authority was not the focus, the person being separated TO was the focus.
So, from that standpoint, we are immersed in the name of our "Rabbi" signifying that we are separating ourselves TO Him. We are joining ourselves to His teaching etc. This was no small matter in biblical times. It was extremely serious and a big commitment as well.

I did not say that at all.
I am saying that what they believe is just as important as what was said.

To me, attending a trinitarian church is saying that you affirm that what they believe and preach is as valid as what you believe.
It is a tacit approval of false doctrine.

But do they believe in a triune God as well?
Does their church teach that God is a trinity of persons?
Peer pressure is a powerful thing.
And daddy attending that church, and showing them its okay to attend a trinny church, tells them all they need to know.
And that is that basic doctrines, such as the Godhead, are not important.
They are being shown that there can be two divergent - yet equally true - views.

My children would attend an Apostolic church.
And I would not go to an Apostolic for the sake of Dis-unity and dis-fellowship.
Just attending Apostolic Church would not make me a supporter of the Doctrines.

You say you believe in Jesus Name Baptism and the Oneness of God?
Aren't you being disengenuous in attending a trinitarian church?
Are you telling me you would rather your pastor be wrong on basic doictrine like baptism and Holy Ghost instead of standards?
Wow.

Speaking of my own experience with my two kids. We attended a trinny church for a bit and my kids both understand completely the three are one! They were not brainwashed into any 3-god teaching while we attended.

I don't think it's a good idea to teach kids that their pastor's teaching is wrong. That is what happens when you attend a church where you disagree with basic doctrinal teachings.
